So one of these shows that start off alright but end very pathetically?

I would call the end pathetic.

The saddest part of it all is that it's not that bad of a concept.

The animation was the best part of Angel Beats, IMO.
New stuff to add later.

Tayutama
Harem, magic, little cute animals and a cat girl.
That's half of it.  Only other distinguishing thing I remember is the guy looking like he's charging up like DBZ and attacking a dragon.
Nothing I found particularly noteworthy, but it works I guess.

Strike Witches
Has its bits but the overly moral main character along with an ending which made me go "errrrr" can't score that highly in my books.  I found some parts of the story a little boring too.  But otherwise, interesting idea of futuristic lazor weapons in a 1940s environment.

High School of the Dead
Show starts of with a bang and keeps this going for a few episodes, cools down and then starts changing direction as somewhat expected.  Story makes major modifications to the "world" and seems unlikely to have a truly "happy ending", and the this season does somewhat suggest the possibility of it being continued.
I generally found this show enjoyable overall.  I think some parts could use some touching up though.  Quite a number of issues/thoughts seem rather questionable however.

Sekirei
Story and universe of discourse seem to remind me of Mai-HiME.
Except fewer monsters and more emphasis on harems, fan service and whatever.
The "evil guy" who controls the game/contest (some crazy man who always stands on a high tower) seems more absurd than the one who controls the Mai-HiME world :P
With quite a number of cliches, I think it does what it sets out to do.

Lol.

I actually found this to be decent, better than my expectations actually (I expected it to sort of suck).

(Note that decent means like 7.5/10, not 9/10)

Gives a sort of happy feeling while watching this (sort of like watching k-on).  Other than that, it isn't great.  7/10 maybe.

Sucked at pretty much everything (art, plot, making sense...), but was still pretty entertaining.

I'm going to move onto some of the bigger titles, stuff like Clannad and Baccano, because all the stuff I watched since the start of 2010 or so haven't been all that great.  Well, some of them were good, but none of them could reach lets say, a 9 level.

Here's a rough list of them....

(5) - Omamori Himari - made up a whole lot of bullchocolate for the ending.
(7.7)   - Toaru Kagaku no Railgun - Actually didn't suck like I sort of expected it to after the first few episodes, which was nice).
(7) - Vandread + 2nd
(5)   - Darker Than Black 2 - Worse than DtB1 in every single way - which is bad, when DtB1 was only like 7.5/10 for me).
(5) - Sacred Blacksmith - it's unfinished
(3)   - Princess Lover - 1st half 6.5, 2nd half is the most retarded shit I've ever seen in anime... you should watch it just to see how bad the 2nd half is.
(8)   - Macross Frontier - Was quite good the whole way, but the end wasn't really that good).
(7)   - Shinkyouku Soukai Polyphonica - Crimson S
(6) - Black Rock Shooter - Don't know what the hell was going on.  Sort of do now, thanks Hearty for explaining).
(5.5)   - Agent Aika, Aika R-16 - Fanservicy OVAs
(5.5)   - Yoake Mae yori Rui Iro na - QAULITY animation.

Even the eroge and shit have been sort of disappointing and that's usually not the case, since generally (not always) only the good stuff gets translated...

(7.5) - Eien no Aselia - Spirit of Eternity Sword - Others would probably give this like a 9, but that main character made me rage so many goddamn times... errr... pretty much everything about him pisses me off (besides for the fact that his in-game unit is extremely powerful)... and since the game mostly revolves around him... that didn't work out too well for me.  But besides for that, the gameplay is decent and the story was decent, but not great.

(6.5) - Daibanchou - Big Bang Age - Played this expecting something similar to Sengoku Rance, got something much inferior.  Ok, Sengoku Rance (Rance 7) was extremely awesome, one of the most addictive things I've played and would rate 9/10 or something like that.  Rance's gameplay was pretty challenging and overall decent, Daibanchou was me getting annoyed managing loyalty and order, and annoyed at the system's inflexibility.  Rance had a way more engaging story, Daibanchou's story is a mess, and Rouga (main character) isn't as awesome as Rance (Rouga only slightly awesome... but hey, that's a whole crapload better than Yuuto from EnA above), though that's highly subjective I guess.  Rolling over places in this just isn't the same as rolling over places in Rance.

That being said, out of all the eroge with gameplay I went through, I would rank...
Utawarerumono ≥ Sengoku Rance > Tears to Tiara > Eien no Aselia > Daibanchou.
So this year I ended up with the bottom 2, still bottom if you add in all the traditional VNs, because most of them are 8+ at least.

Twas cute.

Nowhere near K-On IMO.  Maybe somewhat, but wartime is quite different to easy going highschool life.

Assassinator Wrote: [ -> ]Sucked at pretty much everything (art, plot, making sense...), but was still pretty entertaining.
Art was okay IMO - about average.
Plot kinda sucked, I agree.
Making sense, well, the history maybe - I found it more silly than anything though.

I like how it's executed overall.

K-On S2 ended meh'ly.  Ep20 seems to be the real ending, the rest seems to be just extra.  A bit dragged out it was IMO.
Seitokai Yakuindomo is entertaining, but as they say, most of the jokes are sexually oriented, and some seem like the jokes I would make when I was 12.
Black Cat seems interesting so far.

Really? Really?
Yes!
I always tried turning everything into a sex related joke back then.
Ah, the memories.
I love how the camera girl talks in this show...
She is full of win.
Voice sounds like that of Kuroko from Railgun - don't particularly enjoy the voice, but the calm monotone is awesome.

Quite a number of jokes I don't understand, like the top of the suggestions box (I assume it's meant to look like some "hole"?)

Yeah, if there's a voice acting award it has to go to her. Couldn't get enough of her!

Same - I thought it was some sort of penetration joke but there had to be something else to it. Surely. :/
ZiNgA BuRgA Wrote: [ -> ]Also watched the spin-offs, Akane Maniax and Ayu-Mayu Theatre.  Akane Maniax, IMO, is better than what most people seem to think of it - not great, but works alright as a comedy/romance type show (a bit different than your typical one - I found the mecha parts amusing).

Ok, I finally bothered to watch Akane Maniax.  I found it to be alright actually.

ZiNgA BuRgA Wrote: [ -> ]Probably would've got higher ratings if it weren't tied to KgNE maybe...

No way!  If you haven't seen KimiNozo, you'll miss like 2/3 of the referreces (stuff like this), and you'll probably get confused as hell by all those flashback scenes and stuff Akane talks about.

Best if you know Muv-Luv too, but you don't really miss anything, since this happens between KimiNozo and Muv-Luv.  And Muv-Luv (Muv Luv Extra) doesn't have much of a story anyway, it's just Sumika being cute and Meiya being... Meiya.

ZiNgA BuRgA Wrote: [ -> ]Started watching the OVAs - saw the first episode.  Seems to be an alternative ending, and somewhat reminds me of Ai Yori Aoshi ("oh, let's build a wonderful relationship together" lameness).  Eh, see how it turns out.

Still haven't watched that yet.  Maybe one day....

Y'know that list me and sister came up with? Akane Maniax was on it but wee decided because neither of us were interested in watching it wee just deleted it from the list. *shrugs*
