I'm thinking of redoing my ratings system as I seem to be only giving ratings of like 2.5-3.5 stars.
Anyway:
Shigofumi
This one is somewhat like a collection of stories, with an overarching story line. I really liked the first one (first 2 episodes), but the other ones aren't so good - some hovering on the "bad" side IMO (eg, I found the bullying one hard to believe), though some are quite reasonable. Relatively enjoyable nonetheless - 3.5 stars.
Black Rock Shooter
The main thing that sticks out is the fact that there appears to be two stories, somewhat being run in parallel. I wouldn't consider the main story to be great, and the "minor story" is just two people fighting, however the contrast between the two environments does have some impact. But, although you can theorise over any underlying meanings, they don't really make it clear what's going on between the two.
Because I can't say any of the content is really any good, only the contrasting ideas holding any interest, can only give this one 2.5 stars. Maybe the song its based off may reveal more info, but for me, I wouldn't know...
Onii-chan no Koto etc etc
Despite what others may think, I have a somewhat positive view on this show. For many shows of this genre, the first episode is usually the most exciting (where they introduce the viewer to the crazy situation that's going on in the world) and the episodes following it, not usually so (i.e. daily life in this crazy situation; example Ouran High School Host Club: first episode - Wow! Girl that looks like boy becomes a host! other episodes - what happens in the club). This show probably isn't any different in that regard, however they do somewhat avoid the "becoming boring later on" part by continually introducing interesting ideas in later episodes. Unfortunately, it does somewhat wear off, though I think it's a step in the right direction.
For me, other aspects are just average - mainly the ideas they introduce caused the most interest in the show. 3 stars - nice try with the ideas, though I don't quite think they made it. Probably would've given 3.5 stars for first ~6 episodes.
Iriya no Sora, UFO no Natsu
Story seems somewhat strange and a lot of details are withheld. Even at the end, some things aren't really explained.
To me, it seems the show tries to achieve some "environment" more than a story, and it does manage to create a number of ideas in the 6 episodes.
Possibly unfair, but I didn't really like the way in which the story was told - the show just felt odd overall. So only giving it 2.5 stars, though maybe would've given 3 if I liked the story telling a bit better.
