RE: ZiNgA's Quick Review thread
Mai-otome Zwei was pretty good as well.  The other ova, which I forgot the name, I can't really comment on.  Didn't bother watching.

RE: ZiNgA's Quick Review thread
Just finished Mai-Otome - as somewhat expected, the second half is better, and surprisingly, they dropped a number of things I thought it would develop into.

Mai-HiME was entertaining enough - not bad / reasonably good, but not great.  Still considering whether to rate it 3 or 3.5 stars...

Don't have the Mai-Otome OVAs though.

RE: ZiNgA's Quick Review thread
Saw a few things:
- Mai-Otome Zwei + S.ifr - seem to be in the same-ish mood as the 2nd half of the main story - reasonable
- Zero no Tsukaima - average show - could've been better IMO.  Didn't like the 2nd season that much.
- Wind, a breath of heart - the OVAs were much better than the main show (which kinda sucked)
- Rozen Maiden Ouverture - story turn around was a bit silly, but otherwise nothing special here
- Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro chan - pipirupipirupipipirpipipurpi...
- Maria-sama ga Miteru 4th season - seems to follow on the idea from the 3rd season, which is nice
- Kurokami - average show, might improve
- Maria Holic - substandard, but might keep up with it

Also just rewatched KgNE, dub version.  Still enjoyed it, but as I thought, not as much as I did the original.  Tried to be more critical this time watching it, and some things that occur seem rather too coincidental/unlikely.  Also watched the spin-offs, Akane Maniax and Ayu-Mayu Theatre.  Akane Maniax, IMO, is better than what most people seem to think of it - not great, but works alright as a comedy/romance type show (a bit different than your typical one - I found the mecha parts amusing).  Probably would've got higher ratings if it weren't tied to KgNE maybe...  First part of Ayu-Mayu was okay, but the 2nd part was a bit disappointing.  Started watching the OVAs - saw the first episode.  Seems to be an alternative ending, and somewhat reminds me of Ai Yori Aoshi ("oh, let's build a wonderful relationship together" lameness).  Eh, see how it turns out.

S.ifr > Zwei. But I found neither to be that strong. Average to above average.

I still think the original Mai-Hime > everything Mai-Otome.

Average is the best way to describe it.

Talking about OVAs, the first 2 episodes of Shigofumi makes an OVA I would almost give 10/10 for. And from me, that's not an easy score, at all. Too bad the rest of Shigofumi doesn't follow though, and the show together at most can only make an 8/10.

You'd never be able to achieve the same level of enjoyment the 2nd time you watch anything, even if the voice acting was in fact better.

Going to watch that.

Funny how they're making all the stuff for Mai-Otome instead.  Wonder what happened to the Mai-HiME movie...

Generally, but depends.  KgNE is rather plot based, so watching it a 2nd time does spoil the anticipation.

There never was plans of any Mai-Hime movie. That trailer thing was a joke.

And because Mai-Hime starts at the very start, and concludes everything at the end. Unlike Mai-otome, which starts sometime in the middle (there's a lot of history before), and doesn't completely full stop at the end either.

I was expecting S.ifr to cover the stuff before the main series, like the attack on windbloom and the wars. It ended up as some random side story.

Unless your anime has no storyline whatsoever...

And these likely suck too much for you to bother watching a second time anyway.

:O  Pretty good joke.

You could easily add a story before the main plot.  Even if it was S.ifr-esque (ie the battle 300 years ago).  A continuation might be a little difficult, though you could always play around with a few factors.

Sometimes you pick things up on the 2nd watch, especially with those that reveal certain key aspects at the end of the story.  I've read some books multiple times, finding the second go pretty much just as entertaining as the first...
But meh, can't say much about it.  It's rare anyway.

RE: ZiNgA's Quick Review thread
Finished Maria-sama ga Miteru 4th season, Akikan, Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha and Princess Mononoke.
Marimite 4th - pretty much similar to the 3rd season - even the ending is somewhat similar, being a little open.
Akikan turned out better than I had expected, though the ending kinda killed a lot of its appeal.
Nanoha, first two seasons are fairly action based with plenty of eye candy - what'd you probably expect.  Third season is a little different.
