Assassinator Wrote: [ -> ]Generally I don't even know what studio makes what unless others tell me about it.

Same here.
Assassinator Wrote: [ -> ]I thought the ending (episode 13) was sort of nice, and this is where I think watching all at once and watching an episode per week makes a difference.  Watching all at once carries the mood over from episode to episode.
I watched the last few episodes together.
I think the actual story ending is rather sweet and liked it, but I hated most of (that is, everything except the end) of episode 13.

Watching Baccano right now, and having some difficulty piecing the story together (get a bit confused when they mention lots of people/places and different times going on).  I'm not particularly a fan of mafia type stories though.  The immortality poo poo seems a bit "lolwtf" to me at the moment.
I'm finding the comedy duo rather amusing, especially how they think of ways to make everything upbeat.

It's just like that.  You'll be confused as hell at the start.  Stuff starts making sense a bit after you see that ship episode.

Assassinator Wrote: [ -> ]Finishing off Mahou Tsukai ni Taisetsu na Koto (aka. Someday's Dreamers)

Done.  Pretty average I guess.

Yeah? Me and Onii-chan thought it was pretty poo poo. When the credits started in the last episode I stopped watching and I remember onii-chan telling me he never finished it.

Yeah, the final arc was pretty bad.

Assassinator Wrote: [ -> ]Generally I don't even know what studio makes what unless others tell me about it.  Oh, except for Shaft, they make visually unique stuff that's easy to spot apart.

You don't see the studio logos in the OPs/EDs?

Don't really read the credit during OPs and EDs.  Generally I either skip them (rare) or just alt+tab and do something else while it's on (most of the time).  Even if I actually see it, it'll probably pass right by my head, since I don't pay much attention to that.

Assassinator Wrote: [ -> ]Watching... Haruhi (finally), and it seems pretty damn average so far (8 episodes in).  So unless it gets extremely awesome in the remaining 6 episodes, I absolutely do not see where all that stupid fanboyism came from.

It's not going to .-.
As for the many fanboys....I'm not quite sure myself

Ok, watched the whole thing now.  It does get slightly better, but not too much.  7/10.

ZiNgA BuRgA Wrote: [ -> ]Aired order (2006) or chrono order?
I watched it in aired order and found it damn boring.  I guess some people liked it airing out of order, but personally, it got a little confusing or details were only shown later etc and I got really bored of it.  Personally see little reason to like it being out of order unless you like getting brainfudgeed.

I actually think it probably works better in aired order.  I mean the final episode in the aired order is a good episode for conclusion, while the final episode in real order was a whole lot of nothing.  As for the confusion, it's really not all that confusing at all, since Haruhi is mostly episodic and all...

Assassinator Wrote: [ -> ]Also watching... Akikan.  Dropped it ages ago back then, picking it back up probably because zinga said it isn't as shitty as I originally picked it out to be from the first 3 episodes.  Wee'll see...
If you aren't picking onto the comedy in the first few episodes, it's probably not for you.
It's a bit better than your average show of similar nature, but by no means great.

Yeah, it does get somewhat better, but still not really the kind of stuff for me.  6/10 at most.

Oh, and the ending was so goddamn cliche...
Spoiler:
I mean... girl who is not loved gets jealous of other girls who are loved, starts hating them, attacks and captures them.  Via powers of love and feelings, the captured girls resists the evil girl's control, and together they beat her.  Then they tell her she is not unloved and evil girl realises she's wrong, blah blah blah, happy end...

I'm sure I've seen that before, many times.

Assassinator Wrote: [ -> ]And finishing off Sharin no Kuni (finally) (high expectations).

That Houzuki!

Finished that too.  8.5/10.  Has some extremely powerful moments (notably, at the end of most of the chapters), and is overall pretty strong.  But not as masterpeice as many others claim it to be, and the slice of life stuff is sometimes pretty damn boring, like in most of the 3rd chapter (Touka is so goddamn indecisive and it drags on and on...).

Oh, I also have to mention the protag in this is like the most awesome protag ever, and I don't mean he's just slightly better than your typical clueless dense ordinary-in-every-way eroge protag, I mean this guy is a superior human being.

That's about the only thing I can think really works - just that episode.  But then, perhaps they should've just made the actual ending better?
Angel Beats special - labelled as episode 14 by SS.  Doesn't quite fit after episode 13 IMO, but anyway, didn't like it too much.  Had some ups, but meh mostly.
13.5 was only like 2 minutes long, not much there.

Kurenai OAD2, similar to the first one.

My sister downloaded Haruhi ages ago, and I cbf redownloading everything, so I just used her version.  It's some old AVI version of the 1st season only by a.f.k.  So no, no new episodes and no endless eight.

Finished the last 9 or so eps of Shakugan no Shana I stalled from like 2yrs ago.  The ending was pretty crappy (well, there is a second season, so whatever), and the best part imo is probably the episodes describing Shana's past.  Going to download and watch some of these specials (there seems to be a crapload of them).

2 episodes into the second season of Rozen Maiden.  Reminds me of how much I hated that protag guy...
