Action seems rather senseless most of the time. Slice of life is more down to earth, however, it can't be too ordinary, otherwise it looses it's advantage of being a show (ie, I live an ordinary life myself (okay, perhaps not that ordinary)).
Interesting. I shall keep that in mind. (so SciFi works more than Magic?)
Can't give an answer for that.

Start wasn't the best - reminded me a bit of Azumanga Diaoh style comedy. But later stunts are a bit more interesting.
Rather unique in what it does - basically everyday conversion but embellished in the anime way. Could only identify a few references though. Does get a little repetitive at the end though. Ending was so-so.
Liked some ideas in the OVA - would've liked them to explore some of them a bit more.

Assassinator Wrote:I thought Lucky Star was quite overrated. I mean it's supposed to be a commedy show, but I probably laughed more in Railgun (the early episodes) than Lucky Star. And I don't care too much about the references either (I'm not "otaku" enough), not that I recognised many anyway.

Overall, seems to be a fairly standard plot, with the typical questionable issues which come along with these shows. Starts off as a supernatural mystery type thing. Unfortunately degrades a bit towards the end (no, not because the mystery element is gone).
Can't say much else, it's reasonable. Put this between 3 and 3.5 stars, but I'll lean towards 3.5.
Starts good, ending gets crappy towards the end. But a decent show overall imo.
ZiNgA BuRgA Wrote:Rewatched Kiddy Grade - not a bad show IMO. Kiddy Girl-and is somewhat a sequel but rather different in both the setting/main characters and the style.
Kiddy Grade = the definition of "flawed". Also the definiton of "ad-hoc". I mean it's not too bad a watch, but seriously, that stuff is so flawed and ad-hoc it puts everything to shame.
There are flaws, but what are you thinking?
ZiNgA BuRgA Wrote:There are flaws, but what are you thinking?
It's way ad-hoc, people come and unlikely events happens exactly when needed, and stuff just works out way too perfectly. And every time it seemed someone's dead, they come back to life (if it's one time, ok, whatever. But it just happens over and over).
It's way unrealistic. Some events in that show just like... don't happen. They're like more coincidence than coincidence. But I guess since this is a random shounen action show, for teenage boys to get excited over fights and powerlevels, can't blame it too much.
It's way inconsistent. In some places, Eclair can supposedly move faster the eye can see, but other times, she gets hit by stuff that I can probably dodge, powers are just inconsistent overall, everywhere. Another example, Eclair's (small) spaceship thing killed a whole army of giant spaceships just by flying around the place super fast (also related to the unrealistic point above), but looses to a single person later on.
This stuff like sets a benchmark for being flawed to me.

At the beginning? The stuff there was somewhat planned/staged though. Can't remember too many instances of where people seemed dead - only when the two main characters died...

Agree with that.
I'm probably thinking more about how they left the key to the giant ship with a single person - seems utterly stubborn to me.

Not just surviving when they most likely died, but also surviving based on miraculous way too perfectly timed events.
Some example that I can remember as of now (there's more I can't, especially the more minor incidents)...
Alv + Dverger got shot out of the sky head on my a giant donkey laser.
Alv + Dverger got molecularity decomposed inside that giant spaceship.
All the other people got molecularity decomposed inside that giant spaceship. Eclair + Luminair got I-don't-know-what-the-hell-ed by those army guys when they deserted.
And even if they do actually die, they revive anyway, in new bodies.

The final arc is just way unrealistic as a whole. Way lots of power inconsistencies (the final battle is quite lol). And in terms of storyline, supposedly they plan on flying to some other galaxy and killing off the current one to start over, yet they showed a lot of attachment when Earth was getting destroyed by Dverger (I mean if their plans succeeded, wouldn't Earth have been lost anyway?).
Assassinator Wrote:Alv + Dverger got shot out of the sky head on my a giant donkey laser.
Could've absorbed most of it. They were never really shown dead...
Assassinator Wrote:Alv + Dverger got molecularity decomposed inside that giant spaceship.
Actually only Alv. Story seems to imply she used her abilities to change things I guess >_<
Assassinator Wrote:All the other people got molecularity decomposed inside that giant spaceship. Eclair + Luminair got I-don't-know-what-the-hell-ed by those army guys when they deserted.
Yeah, that was weird.
Assassinator Wrote:And even if they do actually die, they revive anyway, in new bodies.
Actually, when they got killed, they got put into new bodies (makes sense I guess), but not the case when they got decomposed.
As for the past, well, the past is a little sketchy, so can't say much.

From memory the plan was to teraform various other planets then abandon them. Earth doesn't need teraforming, so would be left as is.
Actually, what does happen at the end of 5cm/s?
