My sister told me that too actually.

I've been told that Princess Tutu is great as well.
I personally recommend Samurai Champloo and Neon Genesis Evangelion and be sure to see The End of Evangelion afterwards. Once enough time has passed watch the Evangelion Rebuild movies (there are two released with two more to go).
Oh and do give Fullmetal Alchemist a try, despite the many episodes it does stay consistently good throughout.
More to come later when I get off work.

I'd recommend Gurren Lagann, Clannad+After Story, Yosuga No Sora, Kimi ni Todoke(<3) and what ekusho said as well. /o/

Yeah I remember that show to be pretty badass, I should go finish it.

I've actually almost watched this to the end like 7 years ago, but unfortunately, that's too long ago and I don't know what the hell happened anymore, so I'll need to re-watch the whole thing.
Is it actually still worth it watching the original, or should I just watch the remake movies? Because I heard from people that the movies are like fucking awesome.

Will definitely get to it eventually. And I have no doubt it's very good, because it's rating is like fucking 9.39 which is the highest rated thing on anidb by quite a lot of distance. But right now don't really feel like tackling something 80 episodes long.

Onto Clannad already. Just that stuff like Clannad needs the right mood and long blocks of time to watch whole arcs in one go. Watching Clannad is srsbsns.

Well technically you could watch the movies first but since they are 2 movies so far they rush some things, and in the TV series some characters get better character development. I personally recommend seeing the series first so you get a good understanding of what it is you're watching when you see the Rebuild movies. Also because the second one deviates from the original storyline. And yes they are pretty damn good movies.
And onto the other titles from the list I have seen/recognize:

Assassinator Wrote:Clannad After Story (not until I finish Clannad)Yes, do watch this.
Assassinator Wrote:D.N.Angel (watched like 1/2 of that 7 years ago, one of the earliest things I've watched)This was also one of the first anime I started watching, pretty average and somewhat forgettable. Hell, I had completely forgotten about it until I saw your post.
Assassinator Wrote:Kimi no Todoke (I heard this is good)lembas, Senseito and PB seem to simply adore this one, I watched it a while back but at the time all the sparky bubbles and DEM MISUNDERSTANDINGS sort of turned me off from it
Assassinator Wrote:Maria+Holic (watched like 1/2 of this)it's funny but the endings to both seasons are pretty bleh
Assassinator Wrote:Tengen Toppa Gurren LagannThis one I liked, very heavy and over the top sort of action and it relies a lot on that momentum to keep you going so it sort of sags in the middle when it turns more srs business but then picks back up with a pretty unforgettable ending.
Assassinator Wrote:Yosuga no SoraINCEST, closest you can probably get without just making it into a hentai. 5/10
Assassinator Wrote:C the Money of Soul and Possibility Control (lol double you tee eff is this?)think of it like yu-gi-oh but with gambling and money
Assassinator Wrote:D.Gray Man (Massive long shounen stuff, so no)I remember seeing this one last year, the manga was and is still ongoing and the fillers bored me so I dropped it and went with the manga instead
Assassinator Wrote:Durararara!!Very cool anime, you should give this one a try
Assassinator Wrote:Haruhi Season 2 (heard this is like, lets repeat 8 episodes trololol and I'm not going to watch it)I wasn't a big fan of the second season and I watched the first 6 episodes (I don't know why I did that) of the endless 8. the other arc was the one leading up the part where they made that movie but that arc made me hate Haruhi so yeah..
Assassinator Wrote:Minami-keThis one I really loved, every episode had me laughing, not sure if you'll find it funny but watch an episode or two see how you enjoy it

lembas as in Xithrun? Lol would have never expected him to like watching shoujo stuff. Would've expected him to be more like, Evangelion and Ergo Proxy and that kind of stuff.

All I know about Yosuga no Sora is this picture, and she's supposedly blood related, and the VN has nice art. Oh and the ED song is catchy.

I seem to have a thing for romance animes.

Also, +1 for Clannad and After Story.

Really depends what mood/genre you fancy.
"Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody" is one of the best episodes from the Haruhi anime adaptation, though, and that's the first-aired episode of Season Two. Endless Eight is poor but forgivable. The Sigh of Haruhi Suzumiya isn't fantastic but there are laughs and if I remember correctly there are a couple more good episodes there. You should put yourself through it (not all 8 eps of EE obviously) before watching the film - which is outstanding.

I watched all 8 eps of endless eight cause I'm hardcore stupid.
Also yes, Minami-ke is awesome, havent seen second series though.
FMA is good but i stalled on it for some reason, even thought it was really good.
Kimi ni Todoke is amaaaaaazing <3 So so so so good, both seasons are a must.
Yosuga no Sora yeah, they're blood related and they get it onnnn, it's a sort of multiple path thing, like in a VN it has a start, then the rest is just the rest of the routes in 2 or 3 epsiode sections, each with a different girl, one of them being his sister.
And of course, CLANNAD and After Story are pure magic, masterpieces.
