This is a really random series.  However, I found it more stupid than entertaining.  Too much lame ecchi, and jokes are either cliché or become very predictable.
Overall okay, but not that great a watch.

I can't even bring myself to finish watching the 3rd episode (5th and 6th I guess if you count that each episode consists of two ten minute episodes)

Ok, maybe if you're some masochist siscon who dreams of getting whipped by your sister you actually like Kirino, then you'd like this show, but for me, it's more of a test of patience (to not just rage and drop) than enjoyment.  Seriously, Kirino is insufferable and Kyousuke is too (for being totally spineless).  And since this show is more or less a purely character based slice-of-life (centered on Kirino), it pretty much didn't work for me.  The true ending where Kirino leaves is the best part of the show, good riddance.

PS: Kirino has terrible taste in eroge.
PS2: Kyousuke makes a reference to Rance in one episode.  I find it amusing because Rance is one of my favourite protags, while Kyousuke is somewhere on the bottom.  Rance is ambitious, aggressive, relentless, knows no fear, takes shit from noone, and obtains everything he desires, the dictionary definition of alpha male and the total opposite of Kyousuke.

I'll agree with that, but I've also seen worse than it. Being only 13 episodes I managed to tolerate it enough to finish the entire thing. If I had a better way of spending my time I might've not bothered at all.

It's on the low end of quality, but I never really got attached to the characters to really care too much.  The bits of comedy were okay - I was hoping for more of that.

I'm with ZiNgA, the only reason I stuck with Ore no Imouto was because it had a few funny moments.

Rance isn't really arrogant in that he actually has the skills to back up all his boasts, and is also ridiculously successful at more or less everything he does.  As for arsehole, definitely.  He's also totally self centered and morally bankrupt, which is why a lot of people can't stand him.

Pretty much, Sengoku Rance is very fun to read because of Rance's complete disregard for tradition and what's considered common practice, and his complete lack of self restraint.  The game is set in a time period that is a parody of the Sengoku (warring states) period in Japan 300 years ago, so you know, Samurais and Bushido and Honor and all that crap.  And Rance comes and totally pisses everyone off and fucks everything up, declares wars and conquered places for ridiculous reasons and stuff.

It's not that the quality is terrible, it just caters to a completely different group of people than me.  It's like if you're a straight guy and you're watching gay porn, that shit's disgusting right?  Pretty much this is a Kirino show, and if you think she's a giant stuck up bitch and cannot sympathise with her at all, it doesn't work.
