The extra 3 eps of Baccano were easier to comprehend than the main show, although it loses some of the interesting ideas of the main show.

Shinryaku Ika Musume
Nice collection of comedy shorts (each episode consisting of three "sub-episodes").  These shorts are somewhat more like skits, with some ending in odd situations which get "reset" in the next episode.  New characters etc do get introduced throughout the show however, so there is some meaning to the order that the show is shown.
The ending is a little too serious for the show IMO.  Am wondering if they can keep it up for a second season however.

Nyan Koi
Some interesting ideas, however I feel that the main one (talking to cats) is stretched out for too long.
Apart from this, it's mostly a fairly typical harem type show. (the twins are probably the main source of interest other than the cats)
The story doesn't exactly end here, and they do mention a second season, although none has been announced yet.

its nice to see a size difference with same qality thanks to those 2 bits.

image 10bit psp encodes they woudl be smaallllll

2 more bits = 4x the internal precision.

And who cares how big or small your PSP encodes are, you're going to delete them right after watching anyway.  So just use like crf15.  On the other hand, if 10bit worked on PSP, it will help the blocking in dark areas that are so visible on PSP size (resolution) encodes.  But ofcourse, that will never happen, not even on the PSP 2 (Vita).

Somewhat childish in a number of regards - I probably would've enjoyed this more if I were 8 years younger.
Didn't particularly like the beginning or end, but middle is okay.
Story itself was otherwise okay.

I didn't particularly feel it was childish, (besides for Arthur being retarded, but that's more retarded than childish).  Maybe just very cliche in a lot of places.  I thought the beginning was decent, the end was bad yeah (actually, that's probably just my impression on the game overriding the anime, the anime's beginning probably does suck).  Don't know why I originally rated it the same as 12 Kingdoms but that was quickly rectified (12 Kingdoms is a superior anime).

But yeah, Tears to Tiara's ratings are sort of sucky on anidb (6.8), and even the original game's ratings are only average-ish (7.2) on vndb, so it's definitely not a masterpiece or anything.

Imo they're mainly for the purpose of tying up some loose ends and clarifying some unclear parts of the original anime.  Without the OVA Baccano feels like an incomplete pile of random messy poo poo (with awesome characters and fights to be fair).
Assassinator Wrote: [ -> ]not even on the PSP 2 (Vita).
If hacked, a software decoder seems plausible for a CPU as powerful as the Vita's.

Not exactly childish, but towards the younger spectrum of adolescents perhaps.
Cliche yes.
- Arthur and his never ending quest for testosterone
- Drewc (however you spell it, it's the priest at the beginning of the show) and his nonsensical verbal diaoherra of rubbish - fair enough, he's a priest and I guess they do that, but I see no reason for the audience to see all of it
- Arawn is typecast as your "omg cool guy that all the girls throw themselves at" character
etc

Story structure doesn't really give way to much depth, a number of wtfs at places, and in general, it seems the ideas aren't terribly complex, implying to me it was aimed at a younger audience.
ZiNgA BuRgA Wrote: [ -> ]- Arawn is typecast as your "omg cool guy that all the girls throw themselves at" character

Well based on a h-game, it's not unexpected that a lot of the girls want to throw themselves at him.  Arawn does seem a bit too wishy washy, and a bit too "ordinary-bloke" though... well, considering he's supposed to be a "demon king".  But all in all, Arawn's fine, mainly it's Arthur that's the problem.

If you mean Drwc speaking rubbish at the start, he just does that (he doesn't speak that much at the start in the anime if I rememeber).  If you mean later on when he revives and turns into a dragon/monster/whatever and stuff, that's all made up in the anime.  People die when they are killed, and don't revive as ugly looking monsters.

In the game, Arawn and company simply fights their way up the tower (no bishop and Drwc-monster and magic cauldrons and poo poo, just normal enemies), ends up in that room at the top, beats the white angel, which then sacrifices it's body to revive the god beast, which you beat too (simple face to face fight inside the tower, the tower doesn't get blown up, no flying on dragons, reverberating swords and shit).  Then you get stuck in the tower with no way out and the bard guy with the dragons come and save you and that's it.

Yeah, the ending sucks donkey balls, and is completely unsatisfying.  It feels like a sub-ending of the current chapter, and they just ran out of budget to finish the rest.  The root of the problem isn't solved, the world's still in danger.  There's 10 more angels up there, human bastards shot up their grand design, and now they're ready to kick ass and chew... whatever the fuck they usually chew.  I don't think there's any "barrier to stop angels from coming" patch-up in the game either, more like "wait for Tears to Tiara 2".  Which is actually being made right now 6 years later, along with Utawarerumono 2.  Except Utawarerumono has an excellent ending, which despite being an open ending is an "end of everything", so I don't know what's going to be in 2 at all.

Tears to Tiara 2 image.  Doesn't seem to have the same cast...

Well from what I've seen in Kanon, I'd imply most? protagonists in these shows are ordinary guys and the girls have something whack about them.

Most of the characters actually are retarded in some way or another.

He doesn't speak much later on, but blabs on a fair bit at the beginning.  Or maybe it's the ritual or something that I'm remembering.

We talking about eroge protags and heroines?  Ok, if wee talk numbers, I have a feeling over 3/4 of eroges are nukiges (these are what become h-animes).  You figure out what the protag and girls are like for those (can vary all the way from horny schoolboys to tentacle monsters).

Out of the non-nukige stuff, 3/4 are probably moeges (eroges focusing on moe).  Those try mainly to sell characters and cuteness rather than story (though the good ones should have a solid story too).  Protag is usually an ordinary guy (who's often very dense in terms of love).  Lots of girls (typical examples include: childhood friend with some past promise, tsundere rich girl, adopted sister with secret crush on you, etc) going after him for some reason or another.  Moeges are usually filled with loads of slice of life and usually suck (purely my opinion, slice of life stuff generally doesn't appeal to me much).  They usually don't turn into animes and when they do, most of the time it's some crappy slice of life and/or harem anime (eg. Shuffle, Akaneiro ni Somaru Saka, etc).  Even good moeges usually don't end up with good animes (eg. Tsuyokiss, Kono Aozora ni Yakusoku wo).  Oh yeah Sensei will probably tell you Da Capo is good, but it actually sucks.

And lastly, you got stuff that actually tries to sell story.  Those are less common because it's a whole shitload easier to write a lot of mindless sex (nukige) or a lot of slice of life (moege) than it is to come up with a good story.  And then a lot of the time the story still sucks.  Anyway, protag and girls a lot of the time are similar to moeges, but you can really have anything depending on the story (the PB and moe thread is a good example of something not very normal).  These have more chance of becoming good anime (compared to moeges), but most of the time said adaptations still suck.

tl;dr - You're probably correct most of the time.

Also, the only thing you've played, Kanon, is boring, has an ordinary protag, and has shit art.  Go play the Eustia trial, only 3-4hrs long, is definitely not boring, has an awesome protag and has awesome art.
Actually, fuck moeges, dense protags, tentacle monsters, Kanon, Eustia, shit art and whatever else (no wait, Eustia is still good).  I was looking around randomly and I saw this...

World End Economica - A science-fiction "investment bank novel" doujin game with a story by Isuna Hasekura, the author of Spice and Wolf.  The novel game follows Yoshiharu ("Haru"), a boy born and raised on the moon after humans migrated there. His dream is to stand where no one has laid footsteps before — but to do that, he needs to earn money.

Highschool romance can go to hell, this is about investment banking and making buttloads of money... on the fucking moon!  Like holy shit!  Going to be the most awesome thing ever!

Joking... but I'm still interested though.
Well, it's certainly not been done before.  Whether it turns out to be good is yet to be seen...
ZiNgA BuRgA Wrote: [ -> ]Well, it's certainly not been done before.  Whether it turns out to be good is yet to be seen...

You're going to trade too many CDOs like Bear Sterns and Lehman Brothers... no, not CDOs... Earth-Moon exchange rate futures contracts or something, and then cause the next global financial crisis... on the Moon... and then a war's going to start between the Earth and Moon... but you don't care about that and take advantage of the instability it causes... and become an independent trader (since your bank's bankrupt and all) ... so while everything gets fucked over and people are getting killed (this is why it's called World End Economica) you make buttloads of profit and shit... and fuck some bitches... because everyone knows people with buttloads of money can fuck all the bitches they want.

EDIT: Forgot about insider trading.  Need to do a lot of that too.
Quiz Magic Academy
Supposed to be funny I guess, but it's more stupid than funny.  Not the right thing for me I guess.  4/10

Maburaho
Started watching this stuff like 5yrs ago or something, only now bothered to go finish it.  Harem show with a twist in the middle.  Mostly pretty crappy, with some decent episodes.  5/10

And now that I finished, time to go back to that hottest anime girl thread....

And Zinga's taste is still strange.
Ok, in terms of this show, initially it's something like Yamase > Yuna > Kuriko > Rin (not in terms of hotness, don't think any of them are any hot.  Just normal who do you like best).  Yamase was cool until the last episode, where she's totally uncool.  Yuna was my favourite at the start, but by the time the show ended, she was so goddamn annoying she probably places last.  So in the end, Kuriko probably ends up as my most liked.  But I really don't like Kuriko all that much, therefore I conclude that the girls from this show suck.

As I don't recall you ever mentioning anyone, I presume you have none, thus you cannot claim weirdness.

Ok, fine then, Miyako Miyamura from ef - a fairy tale of the two.  Personality not looks by the way, though her looks are quite superior if I say so myself.

Sekien no Inganock (Inganock of the Brightest Flame).  10 years ago an event referred to as the "Revival" happened which changed the city of Inganock forever, everything started to warp, and humans started to transform into fantastic mutants only visioned in fairy tales.  One day, an illegal cracking doctor Gii meets a girl who doesn't seem to belong in this city.  Story about 41 creatures which bring death, 41 lives consumed, 41 gifts unreceived, 41 possibilities unrealized....
Story = 8/10.  The text feels somewhat poetic, and a lot of things are quite mysterious, very different from the typical schoolgirls fall in love crap.  It's not the best thing ever, but it's pretty decent.  2 major complaints I see everywhere are that 1) there's some amounts of repetition, including the boss fights are simple copy-paste duplicates and are 90% the same, and 2) the ending sucks.  First one I agree, the repetitive stuff are somewhat annoying, and the copy-paste boss fights implies slack writing to me.  However, the second one I don't really agree - open endings aren't bad, bad endings are bad.
Art = 8/10.  Has very unique art which sets it apart from everything else (see the cover above), and I like it.  Resolution/detail is a bit on the low side though.
Music = 9/10.  Best soundtrack ever.  I went and got tools for this just so I can rip the soundtrack out of the game (never happened for anything else).  Not 10/10 only because the number of tracks is on the low side, and some of the tracks which aren't as good get tiring sometimes.
Length = Medium, 15-20hrs.  1.1MB script size.
Overall = 8/10.

Few tracks from the BGM, Sadness / Hopelessness, Battle / Endless Dance, like the most amazing BGM ever.  Vorbis in wav or some weird shit like that, (was that way when I extracted, I didn't fuck with it).

tl;dr - Inganock sucks because it doesn't have any investment banking and insider trading in it.
