Sure sure...

Yeah, it would've been better if they just kept the same pace as the first few episodes.
eKusoshisut0 Wrote: [ -> ]I already knew it was going to be mostly just loli fanservice, but still, it was just bad. And then there's this drama, it just didn't fit in. No sir, I did not like this.

Agreed - it ain't great - but I've seen plenty worse, though.
I'm not sure what to watch next..  I was thinking of watching the Full Metal Panic series
Ika Musume S2 was like S1.  Guess they couldn't vary it that much.

Samurai Girls moved more into story mode later on, but interestingly, managed to keep a fair bit of ecchi despite getting more serious.  I thought the ink blots was some lame special effect, but for some reason, I kinda liked it more later on.
2.5 stars

Steel Angel Kurumi Zero
Short 3 half-episode OVA, and very different to the main series.  Just some characters, but in a seemingly different universe and with different personalities (kinda like Mai-Hime » Mai-Otome).  Fairly simple plot and nothing particularly extravagant.

May come back to School Rumble S2 later on.
Clannad turning out to be very similar to Kanon, but I had expected that anyway.

The ink blots are possibly the best, most stylish method of censoring stuff in anime I've seen up to now.

It's Key, ofcourse they're sort of similar.

Quote:The developers at Tactics created a simple formula for a game: a comedic first half with a heart-warming romantic middle followed by a tragic separation and finally an emotional reunion formed what is known as a "crying game". The main purpose of such a game is to make the player feel for the characters and make them cry due to emotional scenarios which serves to leave a bigger impact on the player after the game is over.
- Key's nakige formula.

I'm going to finish Clannad After Story soon (after many many delays), will write up one of my crappy mini review things then.

Samurai Champloo
Two samurais and a girl go around the place searching for a "sunflower samurai" and they fuck shit up along the way, and hip-hop music, and Mugen is awesome.  The story is episodic and pretty random, good thing is that it's quite entertaining, bad this is that when you look back on it, not all that much happened in terms of plot, and some episodes really shouldn't be there (like the 2 zombie episodes, wtf?).  I don't have much else to say, except that the baseball episode is like the funniest thing I've watched in the last 2 years or something.  Overall probably 8/10.

Yotsunoha
A boy meets his childhood friends from 3 years back, and confirms his feelings for one of them.  I found this to be rather boring because nothing really happens, just lots of talking and reminiscing, and not much impact.  Maybe if you like stories about childhood promises and stuff, you can give it a try, because it's only 2 episodes, not a big investment in time.  4/10.

FMP S1 was disappointing but still above average.

Stopping in between watching After Story? I hope you didn't stop in the second half. Flow helps Clannad work.

You should finish watching <ef - a tale of melodies>, since you watched the 1st season already. If you have already done so then you forgot to add it to your MAL list.

On like episode 13 or something.

A lot more than that - the environments and story structure are very similar.  Characters seem to have a fair amount of similarity too (level-headed, somewhat socially intelligent, main character, doofus sidekick male character, and weird girls with unique problems).
Probably a bunch of smaller things that are similar too, such as jokes where the main character exploits one of the girl's stupidity / slow reaction, but I can't come up with them right now.

Some of the stuff you mentioned are pretty typical eroge stereotypes which you see a lot of, such as the doofus sidekick male character you mentioned.

As for girls with unique problems.... well if all the girls were like totally normal girls living boring normal lives then there wouldn't be much of a story then.  However I do agree with you that stories like Kanon aren't the most realistic things in the world, the "Key formula" aspect shows through, how every girl has a sob story, etc.

ooh right, I had forgotten about that one. I should get on that one first. I really enjoyed a Tale of Memories

Baseball episode is the best filler episode in an anime I've ever seen.
