games like a grrl Wrote: [ -> ]And I saw something on youtube a couple of weeks back that got my attention, something about a zombie who was raised by a necromancer to track down his killer.  There's a girl with a chainsaw there too, I just can't remember what it was called.

That's Kore wa Zombie Desu Ka, the second season is just airing. Also I'm afraid I have bad news for it is not a girl but a cross-dressing man.

Obligatory transformation video:

lol
There is a magical girl to begin with so...

And also, spoilers srsly.
What? Are you referring to Ayumu becoming a mahou shoujo, because that is not a spoiler in any way. It's right in the synopsis.

So? The sequence itself is worth waiting for.
Yup, that's the one, Kore wa Zombie desu ka.  I shall investigate.  And I'll look for Acchi Kocchi too, thanks.
Finished Black Rock Shooter TV. (spoiler free rant ahead)

Exceeded my expectations and I enjoyed it from beginning to end. Some things may have been over done and the voice acting perhaps a little hard to believe but these detractors don't change the fact I enjoyed it. The story pulled together, wrapped up nicely and the "emotional introspection" involved is quite interesting and probably a nice note to anyone who suffers from levels of depression that can breach their own tolerance levels.

I know right? Feeding off an story about emo girls dramatized by ridiculous CG battle scenes - quaint, right? Anime is meant to be entertaining so why should anyone be surprised if it's indulgent? If an anime can be entertaining while being indulgent and putting an interesting story together with a kind message attached to it - surely it's in some way a success? Well apparently that doesn't work for a lot of folks - and I find such a reaction rather laugable. Why? Because if you're watching anime for a story to be told that's kept within the realms of reality then you're wasting your time. Anime is a medium that almost always works off its opportunity to be indulgent and there's no reason why it shouldn't. It's part of what makes it entertaining. Being indulgent in comedy, action, art, horror or anything else, it's part of what makes it entertaining and at least for me - for someone who enjoys anime - it isn't a problem.

If at this point you're thinking "stories can be depicted in a realistic manner in anime" then you're missing my point. I never said it can't - my point is that it emphasizes the characteristics that provoke emotion in order to pull you in - this is the indulgence I'm talking about and if you've experienced an anime grabbing you and pulling you in, that's called enjoyment - and that is ultimately why wee watch anime.
I personally thought the contrast was quite an interesting concept.
Waaaaahhhhhh!!!  Cl...Cla...Nuhhh...Nagisaaaa...waaaaaahhhhh!!!!
