Senseito7 Wrote:^ and you quoted my whole post :P hehe

Couldn't be stuffed sorting stuff out at 5:30am.

Assassinator Wrote:The final film is distinctly different (they all are, really) and at times it feels drawn out, making you miss the pace the previous film had... but all is forgiven when the story plays. It gives the end of the story the space it needs to create that unique feeling of "completion" - true completion.. and as the pieces fell into the puzzle... it drew to a close.

A lot of dramatic scenes in 7, but to me, it never really had the magic of the 5th.

Senseito7 Wrote:Kara no Kyoukai - Complete.
Ratings, out of 10:

Kara no Kyoukai 1: Fukan Fuukei -

8
Kara no Kyoukai 2: Satsujin Kousatsu (Part 1) -

8
Kara no Kyoukai 3: Tsuukaku Zanryuu -

9
Kara no Kyoukai 4: Garan no Dou -

10
Kara no Kyoukai 5: Mujun Rasen -

10
Kara no Kyoukai 6: Boukyaku Rokuon -

9
Kara no Kyoukai 7: Satsujin Kousatsu (Part 2) -

9

For me, 5>>6=3=7>rest.

Senseito7 Wrote:In order to create a masterpiece, in this case it seems, is simply by the level of storytelling.

Having seen a story presented to you so elegantly makes you wish every great story can be told the same way - but what's really special about Kara no Kyoukai, is that its story is as remarkable as its animation.

Imo storytelling is the weaker part of this series, graphics, music and animation in general being stronger.  Besides for 5.

Senseito7 Wrote:The forth film took my breath away and the fifth has such superb, clockwork-like storytelling that its hard to resist giving it a 10.

4th I actually though was probably the weakest.

Senseito7 Wrote:By the end, your mind would probably be cleared by the simply beautiful song sung by Kalafina (and they do all the wonderful songs at the end of each film) and the final scene isn't cheesy - it isn't underwhelming... its just right.

Yes, Kalafina is very fitting.
Assassinator Wrote:A lot of dramatic scenes in 7, but to me, it never really had the magic of the 5th.

The magic feeling was in 4 and 6 more so, 5 was just more epic in terms of action, but its puzzle-solving-like story was indeed magic.

And yes, 7 was dramatic and did indeed lack magic (with perhaps the scene after the credits, that was beautiful ^_^) but it wasn't disappointing either.. it was somewhat fitting.

No, wee're talking about completely different things here.

I was more referring to "awesomeness".  Nothing to do with actual magic, or feelings.

shows how much our definitions differ ^_^
Finished "Kodomo no Jikan: Ni Gakki" and with that, anything KnJ-related (in Anime).

It was a good production which had its values, at times, over 1st season.

3rd episode would catch out the average viewer (if they somehow ended up watching this, hah), but generally seemed weak in parts for a lackluster ending of which is felt in the first season as well to make up for perfectly average, not that bad viewing.

Looking to finish Bakemonogatari soon, and joint the waiting for the final eps next year.-

Next Trapeze will finish that off too so I'll either finally start Gai-Rei Zero, Kashimashi or something else completely randomly.......
Yes pointless.

But still, theres plenty to see.. haha.

The episode made me laugh quite a bit, nice mellow out after the seriousness of the last few episodes.

Ending was total win.
Finished Part 1 (1-4) and Part 2 (5-6) of Aoi Bungaku. (Saw 3-6 tonight)

The first story was brilliantly dark with superb execution, I'll forgive its pretty "defused" ending because of its overall story structure.. just about held together and the animation was perfect for it.

Major double you tee eff on Part 2 though, talk about going from one thing to another. Frankly, I didn't like it that much, IMO it seemed all pretty pointless by the end, whatever the fudge they were trying to portray - they didn't seem to get what they wanted to do themselves (the producers). Having read a couple of synopsis of what the story its based on is about, as well as the story the dude at the beginning described... its sort of shameful they came up with that... well... poo poo.

I hope the rest isn't as vague, and overall disappointing that I have to kill the animes rating... cause "Aoi Bungaku's" idea is great, and they nailed the first story, and failed on the second. Now tomorrow I'll see if they can adapt another story.... properly.

Sensei...... over 'n out.
Finishing Aoi Bungaku, Trapeze (trusting got to go will bother finishing it), Bakemonogatari (till 14 & 15) and eventually Ergo Proxy so....... my prelude to the next season will be..

Strike Witches
ef - a tale of memories
Sengoku Basara

Heres me hoping I won't stall as I start work in 6 days.

EDIT; Oh, and double you tee eff at the Senjougahara shortage in the latter half of Bakemonogatari.

I AM NOT AMUSED.
So my great hatred for Ergo Proxy was mostly cured thanks to its final 3 episodes which cleared up everything.

Which is fine considering I was still watching - if it wasn't for my sister wanting to keep watching it I'd have dropped it by now.

They just pushed things a bit too far in places, a little too pointless in moments... and while ultimately its obvious it tries too hard to be everything - it still impresses by how epicly massive it proves itself to be by the end of the series.

Worthwhile watch? Yes.

Watching it again? I very much doubt it.

Ergo Proxy - 8/10 (but expect yawning up to episode 20)

Also, I got up to Bakemonotagari, inevitably stalled till February for Ep14 & 15.

Bakemonotagari - 10/10

Every episode is entertaining. Every episode is wonderfully animated and executed without fault. Memorable characters and great sound.

In other news, I finish Aoi Bungaku tomorrow after seeing "Run, Melos!" Part 1&2 today, which was brilliant, truly brilliant. [And funnily done by the same guy who did the first story, the only other one I like so far].

Started "Seto no Hanayome" today as well as "Strike Witches".
