Get with the times Zinga!
3.10 was the last firmware on which vshex mod worked...
I would probably code my own CPU changer thing if I could get the PSPSDK working.
I tried 3.71, but I don't like the fact that it doesn't use 1.50 as the base firmware. Also, the vshmenu's CPU speed change doesn't work as well as vshex. Also Brightness mod doesn't work on 3.7x (works on 3.5x).
Later firmwares have nothing that I've really wanted XD so I stay on 3.10 OE. (only thing significant I can think of is better NoUMD, but that's about it)
what about playing newer games?!?!

What are the biggest png to use (resolution)... and why is there a restriction on the size?
Why is the file becoming so large when importing a png file? It's not bigger then the bmp file?
Overall it's a huge step forward for the xmb themeing....tnx dude
oh forgot to ask, can anyone get resurssiklunssi to work on 3.71 or at least tell how to make it work.
1. If you're modifying the topmenu make sure you have the "disable compression" option enabled.
If you already have that option enabled, then you are using icons that are too big and your PSP is running out of memory.
2. I would think it would be anything really. Gsmoke said that 128 px icons worked
3. The file may becoming large because you have the "disable compression" option enable. The option is only really needed for the topmenu_icon.rco
I can get resurssiklunssi to work just fine on 3.71. You do need the 1.50 subset installed for it to work.
I'm attaching a premade package with the prx already extracted, etc.
Other point, PNG is compressed, BMP is uncompressed. GIMs are also uncompressed, so a PNG » GIM conversion will obviously result in an increase in filesize.
My 3.10 OE seems to accept fairly large icons, but I suppose 3.71, with all those restrictions and issues, probably won't work so well.
96x96 png and 80x80 png won't fully work on 3.71.......
Also 96 and 80 bmp 32 bit won't fully work.....
I still think this is strange and it's really a pain in tha a**. Which firmware is Gsmoke at and could he upload the files he is using, tnx

I converted my foster's theme to 3.71m33 and used all the same icon's used in 3.52,.
Icon's disapeard and so i dropped all system settings glow icon's and all is okee now,..
In 3.53 you got the white bloacks in 3.71 they simple don't show,.
The answer is not about how big the icon's are but how much memory they are using,. I quess
3.71m33 uses more memory and so you have to cut down on icon memory,..
Why ,..!? maybe because of the extra 13-27.bmp,.. extra icon's,..!?
if you look at the ptf theme's the icon's are only 48x64 and 48x48 resolution's,.
Vibe i still use the old RCOeditor for the topmenu, everytihng else is wonderfull with 1.15c version. Also i found that the PNG is making a big topmenu, the biggest i reach was 7Mb ,only topmenu. The best way to use the new editor is staying with BMPs with alpha and smaller icons you can i guess 80x80 ors 112x112 will do fine but if you build the whole topmenu with BMP and uncompressed the result will be big topmenu...icons missing. the best way to produce it smaller is with 1.14d version and then the hacked version.
Also for every size PNG should work fine in the new version C,should be...
Frimware im on 3.71.And i use for the topmenu like i said 1.14d version and then the hacked3.71.
%%^^^^^^^^ is it posible to use png for glow icon's!?
it's so frustrating...I thought full color but the png are to big to load with full color. This is kinda depressing..... To bad but that's the way it is.
Isn't there a way to create a bigger buffer for icons in the memory....
I'm sure it's just a matter of coding i mean there no way wee are maxing it i'ts just sony set it to that casue thast all they needed if wee can find the value I'm sure wee can make it bigger
