I wouldn't consider K-On to be a musical anime.  The theme is there, but it really is NOT a musical based anime - it's basically slice of life really.

in macross, in average you get a new song for every single 3-4 episodes.

That's Macross.  Most other shows have no other songs (ignoring BGM) apart from the OP/ED.

hmmphh let's me try to think of some more musical anime.

there's this karaoke king or something like that i watched when i was young. new song almost every episode.
the main character was a kid who got a choker that sealed his singing voice, and there's this guy hated him, tried to punch him and used his ring which is coincidentally a key to that choker. after that the kid's singing is awesome. also, as much as i remember, he turn into an adult when he sing for some reason o-o

got to get around to finish white album. haven't got far with that one.
