Thanks for the offer, but will probably have similar problems, because the main problem is that the lines are too thin. Can try filtering it if I really want, but I really can't be stuffed filtering PSP conversions (my script lets me batch filter with extreme ease, but filtering takes time...).

I can't take much lower than DVD res now. RMVBs are demon spawn.

Theres a quality threshold... but I try not to let that bother my while Im watching.

i leave for less than 2 hours and my thread gets hijacked. >_>

but i like the culmination of subjects, so oh well.

the quality of videos doesn't bother me much, unless it is abysmal. I'm more worried about sudden artifacting than constant quality. If a video that is of good quality blocks up and changes colours due to a conversion problem i won't watch it. id rather watch something that is consistently slightly blocky. then it doesn't stand out
