Well, encoding is one of these things where CPU power really shines. Not gaming.
Generally the 2nd pass results (the slower 4 numbers) are a better indication of the true power of the CPU, as the 1st pass (analysis pass) is somewhat bottlenecked by the non-multithreadable components and never really reaches 100%CPU usage for quads and higher.
Results for my mom's laptop.

Heh, thought I'll experiment with overclocking a bit...
Pulled 2.9GHz through overvolting to like 1.6V.... Started off going well with decent speeds, but about 1/4 way through the benchmark, the fan started going loud as hell (6000RPM), temperature went to 80c, encoding speeds started falling and and everything started going to hell. In the end, the last pass encoding speed was only 14fps which was much slower than the 16fps of my regular overclock (2.64Ghz), even though the clock was much higher. The heat probably screwed everything over, hope I didn't permanently damage anything (I doubt it).
2.2GHz (stock) @ 1.2V -» 13fps
2.64GHz @ 1.25V, 3000RPM fan, 45c temp -» 16fps
2.9GHz @ 1.6V, 6000RPM fan, 80c temp -» 14fps???

Core i7 should be fairly good with single threaded stuff with Turbo Boost.
x264 benchmark is phail. Always fail Avisynth detection cause I don't have it installed in the Program Files folder. It doesn't elevate UAC, so you get a prompt when it executes CPUID. On my AthlonX2, it also failed to write the log file cause it didn't elevate (okay, Windows Vista/7's security is phail (or perhaps I shouldn't have stuck it in Program Files), but still...). I guess you can't do much with a batch script...

Did you run the .vbs or the .bat? the .vbs supposedly has code to disable UAC...

had to rerun it
not bad though, my OC'd c2d can almost keep up with the quad core
c2q and i7's
