i prefer
HE-AAC>vorbis>LC-AAC
Ge64 Wrote:i like mp3, but as long as I can play it in winamp and the quality is better than 192kbps mp3
mp3 is like the worst format that is still used. only good things about it are its compatability, and the fact that is it very easy to rip into.
almost every other lossy compression format still polularly used (e.g. AAC, Vorbis, WMA, RA...) gives a better quality:size ratio than mp3.
Sure
but size isn't an issue and compatibility is.
Syfe Wrote:second that. ogg beats out AAC when it comes to ripping again. CDA>OGG>WAV>MP3 =/= CDA>AAC>??? (mac might be able to encode it only)
CDA?

A problem with SBR though is the amount of CPU power required to decode it. I guess it's the main reason why mp3pro never became popular.
Vorbis, on the other hand, is an excellent format. Unfortunately, open source formats rarely become popular, unless backed up by some company (the most Vorbis has gotten is a few games using the format). Same goes for the Matroska format...
Actually I NEVER used(desu) WMP. Only Winamp.
me2. or musicmatch jukebox
Used MusicMatch - urgh, poo poo...
i like the ripping back then
but ive been using winamp for quite a while
CD Format. CDA i don't know what the "a" is for.
