my friends computer got infected becaause it had avg and the virus had bypassed its protection routines - it was so bad wee couldnt get to any antivirus site or even ms update. ended up trawling ftp sites to find a copy of avast and when i got it installed the thing lit up like it was on fire. in the end it cleaned and sorted everything. i will NEVER use anything but avast.
