You missed two of my favorite genres so I took the courtesy to fix up your poll =)

EDIT: Also there is a HUGE difference between Adventure and Platformer games so I fixed that up too. Don't worry I moved the votes as well =)
Why don't wee have 1000 different genres?!?!?!

Ok, all this editing has really fudgeed up the results. If u click on the view results, u will find that the names and counts don't match.

If they cannot be fixed, i suggest wee erase the results and start the votes from scratch, to clear everything out, and also for those people who voted when some of the later added option were not present, and maybe want to change their minds.

But there was no point to renaming Adventure to Platformer, because as I've already said twice now, that's an outdated term used to describe the 8-bit sidescroller games like Kid Icarus, Mario, Metriod, etc. The current games are now called Adventure games.

Those game franchises still exist, but are not "platformers" anymore. Where does Zelda fit in now? It's not now and never was a "platformer." I suppose by the loosest definition of the word, it might be considered an RPG, but from my point of view -- that point being that I remember when the original games came out -- it's not an RPG. When the original Zelda came out, they didn't call it an RPG. And as a matter of fact, the second Zelda was called Zelda II: The Adventure of Link.

I agree with Zinga, why not have 1000^120 genres. Or, why don't wee just list each game individually?

Either way, I don't care anymore. Too much of this is open to interpretation, and each generation is going to interpret things their own way. I suppose my generation's terms have evolved since the classic gaming days.
Getting confused by all of this.
lol
Note the example. I meant that type of Adventure game. Stuff like those Same & Max games. They're considered Adventure games. Zelda is actually considered an Action RPG since you do actions and to take role as Link.

Unless you can think of a better way to describe Platformers besides calling them Action games >_>

Well actually the global genres are:
Action, Adventure, Racing, Puzzle, Role-Playing, Simulation, Sports, Strategy

Wee could change the poll to just that >_>
RPGs. as long as they have a good battle system and story
fps for the win
