aight aight then just add platformer
But again, that's an outdated term. Adventure is what's used now.

Hahahaha, WORLD WAR III - it's virtual, and people respawn instantly!!!
Liquid Wrote:The only Mario game you collected stars in was Mario64. Super Mario Bros. refers to the NES Mario. Even Mario64 isn't an RPG.

There is actually a Mario game released for the N64 called "Super Mario RPG". and that, as it's name suggests, is definitely an RPG.

Liquid Wrote:Western or Eastern RPG - they all stem from the same ideas: a main character, interaction with other characters through text (maybe audio nowadays), leveling up, a main plot driven by many things, etc.

Western and Eastern RPGs are actually quite different, in the general feel of the game. Western RPGs give more freedom, u can do lots of stuff will will lead u to different paths, and the types of combat and storyline is also different from eastern RPGs. Eastern RPGs have a very rigid storyline, and contain more dialogue, and usually a deeper storyline.

Western RPGs also typically involve general charactors, with a charactor leveling system where there are classes and u can choose different classes and learn different skills and stuff, ie, classes: Warrior, Rogue, Mage, Archer... with their respective skills.

Eastern RPGs basically don't give u such options, and there are not really choosable distinct classes and all that stuff, as most of the characters are specific to the storyline, and come as they are, and generally have more wider range of skills, ie each character can do each type of skill.

Liquid Wrote:The current Zelda's are somewhat more of the RPG type, however, there is still no leveling up, very little text interaction with other characters, and the plot is pretty sparse.

Leveling up is not a requisite to be an RPG. And as u go along in Zelda, u get better swords/equiptment/magic and more hearts and stuff, so yeah, that is basically kinda a substitute for leveling up.

Yeah, Zelda is not as RPG-like as Final Fantasy, but i would definitely count is as an RPG.
rts and fps (call of duty online)

Assassinator Wrote:Oh, and Zinga, can u put in an example for the arcade/Fighting genre, just so all the options are in the same format?
dead or alive?

Sorry, i don't mean i want an example, i mean can someone actually go and edit the poll entry so it includes an example, so it can be consistent with the rest of the entries... something like

Fighting/Arcade, e.g. Dead or Alive.

Thanks. (yeah, I'm picky as hell...)

And i believe adding Zelda to the adventure section makes it very confusing. Leave it as Mario.
