Well, $999, it's about how much Apple charges for their top end iPhones.  To be fair, it's probably not a huge amount considering today's high end phones.
Though I doubt that's anywhere near the final price lol.

Human perceptual limitation is stated to be around 300dpi, which is why the iPhone 4's screen is around 329dpi.
Most people probably can't tell when getting to around >254dpi (<0.1mm pixels), but the PSP2's screen is a bit under.

Hardly, perhaps uses twice the amount of graphics memory, but doubling resolution doesn't require twice as powerful hardware.
1152x864 / 800x600 = 2.0736 - do games run twice as slow on your computer when you up the resolution like that?  Also, with increasing screen density, there are more tricks you can pull off, eg anti-aliasing isn't so important (and can probably be entirely skipped) on a ~300dpi screen.  Other stuff like filtered scaling also become less important due to the eye not being able to see individual pixels.

Looks like the NPG will come in two models, with and without 3g.

$999.99 is a placeholder price lol

Something tells me it will cost $289.99 and might come with a game or 2, so people will not bitch.
