Well, it could make external harddrives perish. Perhaps everyone's desks will look a little bit tidier with this?

I presume it's an optimistic estimate of when production may start :P
Probably won't see it on the shelves till some months later. And probably won't be affordable until about a year after that.

Of course, I'm being optimistic.

CDs shelf life isn't that good. They deteriorate over time. Won't last even close to a century.

Apparently, some brands (maybe Verbatim?) make these claims. A century? Doubt it, but should last for quite some time.

Although magnetic storage is cheaper, it would be nice to see smaller capacity solid state HDDs for WAY faster speed. In fact, I believe if the 32GB flash thingies could install a copy of XP along with quite a few apps.

i don't actually like blu-ray. . . .and yeah my cd's scratch ALL THE TIME>!

not 1 month i can keep a cd without scratches.

Anyway, I did hear about a range of DVDs called "Armour" or something - apparently meant to be highly resistant to scratching. According to a reviewer, even heavy scratching with a scourer didn't work, though prodding with a screwdriver is what eventually broke it.

Did cost AU$10/DVD though, when DVDs were about AU$1 each.

that's expensive. . . I would just buy dvd-r's at my mall for PHP8 (APPROXIMATELY US$0.16)

one-tenth the price? i doubt that. maybe around 300$ a TB but wow. that would be awsum if they make memorysticks also like that, unlimited psp games, movies, and music.. well almost =/

also im thinking of alot of issues with corrupted files..

just burn the same thing 10 times for the same price...they can't ALL get scratched :P:P:P
