RE: Vacui Natale's Random Thoughts
Hmm, so sounds pretty much like a boarding school, as opposed to living in Uni dorms then.
But yeah, food sounds surprising for what it is.

Well, it's good that you're happy.  Keep us updated with anything interesting. (like the underwear thief who shall post an eBay listing using campus computers, and got caught)

RE: Vacui Natale's Random Thoughts
Yeah, it is more like a boarding school.

I'll keep you guys updated when I can :O Apparently, the filter seems to be less strict on the weekends, so that's the only time that I'm able to browse/log in to this site D: But the SGA said this week that it is totally possible for the students to have WiFi, it just can't be paid for by the government, so the SGA has to find a way to pay for it. I see this as a good thing, since it will be unrestricted >:D

By the way, the SGA gets it's funds from the vending machines, and the Student Store, which is a store where students can buy food and some basic necessities like soap and deodorant. Most of the SGA's funds goes towards Rec Trips, so I don't know how they'll allot money for WiFi... I guess I'll have to find a way to urge students to buy from the Student Store and vending machines, than from my roommate :P

As for the underwear thief, there's probably more than one <.>

RE: Vacui Natale's Random Thoughts
I just don't understand... What is it about new mainstream rap music that ignites the rage in me? Any other genre of music can be blasted at loud volumes around me, and it stirs no reaction in me, but as soon as someone comes into the (quiet) computer lab blasting some new chocolatety song by some new chocolatety rapper-- I just feel like getting up, snapping their Beats headphones in half, and shoving the broken pieces up their donkey.

They make it even more annoying than what is by singing the chocolatety lyrics out loud in their chocolatety voice as if someone wants to hear that poo poo. I don't even know how I've managed to keep my patience for so long! I am thankful for the fact that after awhile, once the asshole(s) notices that no one gives a spoon about the chocolatety music they're listening to, they eventually turn it down. That or a staff member comes out and reprimands them. Which leads me to believe that they're doing it to illicit some sort of reaction from the other students in the first place, or to just generally disturb the peace.

Humans are interesting.

Especially girls (here at least). Seriously... They'll bat their (fake) eyelashes at you, grab onto your arm, rub you, lick their lips at you, look into your eyes longingly...

Spoiler:
Just to get a sip of your Cherry Coke.

No that is not a sexual metaphor.
Makes me wonder how far they've gone or will go for other items that only cost $1.25 here. It's really not surprising, considering that most of the girls here are either whores or users, or both.

The only decent girls here are nerds (which is not a bad thing to me), the ones I've managed to befriend with absolutely no effort. Those girls are the only girls that I consider to be my real friends. Then there are the whores that say "hi" to me regularly (I say "hi" back and keep walking), thinking that if they maintain some minimal communication with me, they can get something from me in the future. Those girls, I do not trust at all. I do not care how hot they are to the general population of boys and ultra dykes here; they're disgusting to me.

Humans are quite interesting indeed.

Was rap good before? I remember I liked a few select songs but I never took it seriously and only sung along just to laugh at the words and reenactment. I haven't listened to anything modern but I assume it's gotten worse? Though that is pretty annoying to have people doing stuff like that in a working environment, regardless if it was rap or something else.

About modern rap music: Basically a whole bunch of loud/obnoxious noises, lotsa bass and talking about girl's body parts. What a time to be alive

RE: Vacui Natale's Random Thoughts
It's fairly simple, you just don't like it so when someone plays it at an obnoxiously loud level it makes it even worse and it keeps happening so you get even more angry.

Now I should note that there's plenty of good rap music if you avoid the radio friendly mainstream stuff you see all the time.

I'd say it was, at least in the mid-90s on back :/ I'd post a few examples, but I can't from this restricted internet.

Pretty much. Not to mention the constant bragging about what kind of cars they drive and how much money they supposedly make :/

Hmm... Probably. Some days I'm not bothered by it, and other days it just gets on my nerves.

Yes, which is why I specifically said "mainstream" :P

I'd say it's just them not caring (or not being aware) about what others think, as opposed to trying to disturb others (I don't think they're quite so sophisticated to think about trying to elicit reactions from others).
Simple solution is to just yell at them to shut up (okay, perhaps be a bit more polite first time round), or get your own noise cancelling headphones.

That's interesting to hear.  Sounds like an opportunity depending on how resourceful you are XD

I admit that I don't particularly trust "popular" people, especially females.  They tend to do all sorts of things to be agreeable with everyone and I find they generally have an air of insincerity about them.  They can be fun to toy with though (e.g. see how agreeable and polite they are to you stating opinions that are completely against theirs).

If it's just "hi" though, I wouldn't bother trying to read too deep into it.
Relationships can go both ways - you can always try to get something from them in the future, just like they can do to you.  From your perspective, I don't really see what could be bad about maintaining some minimal form of communication - it could come in handy some day, and if not, you really haven't lost anything.  You always have the choice to reject doing favors if you believe that's what they really wanted (chances are, if they're doing this to everyone, they'll probably only ask those they know more for favors).

Despite that, I'm probably with you - I generally try to avoid building unnecessary relationships when possible (especially more so with the "got to friend 'em all!" mentality of Facebook or other social networks).

Hmm... Yeah. Them not caring or being aware what others think makes more sense.

I would say that to them, but I try to avoid confrontation as much as possible >.<

I usually just drown them out by turning up the music I'm listening to with my headphones on.

Yeah, I get what you're saying. There's nothing wrong with minimal communication, as long as I don't get too involved with them. One of the girls on my dorm (Wee'll call her "Lisa") was giving this speech to a girl who was new 4 weeks ago. Basically, Lisa told her she needs to stop running up and saying "hi" to everyone here, because some people here will see her kindness as weakness and totally take advantage of her. Then she told us about her old roommate (wee'll refer to her as... uh... Brenda) who used to go to Woodstock. A girl who she believed was her friend asked Brenda to come home with her one weekend so they can hang out and whatever, so she goes home with the girl and they go meet up with some guy. She leaves Brenda alone with the guy, and he rapes her. Turns out the girl who asked her to come back to her place for the weekend devised the whole thing. If I remember correctly, I think she said her old roommate quit after that, and the other girl was terminated from the program.

So, the moral of that 30 minute speech she gave that night was basically to be suspicious of everyone, because some people here can be that devious. Ever since then, I've been kind of paranoid about some of the people I've been around, and I tend to watch what I say around certain people.

Then again, I probably don't have to worry too much about getting involved with suspicious people, because I didn't get that speech my first week in this place. Probably because I didn't speak to anyone here for the first couple of weeks because I was suspicious of everyone, lol.

RE: Vacui Natale's Random Thoughts
I suspect the Brenda case would've occurred regardless of whether she said "hi" to everyone or not.
I doubt the girl devised a plan to get another girl raped just out of boredom - there was likely some sort of conflict going on between them.

Of course, that's probably an extreme case - most people interested in taking advantage of you aren't going to do that.
I'm not sure whether being suspicious of everyone is ideal, but then, I don't know the place.  A healthy amount of skepticism is never harmful nonetheless.

Anyway, as long as you're getting along with some of the people there, things should be fine :)
