That's the whole point. They shouldn't be allowed to get away with ruining good times other people are having just for being who they are.

While I'm doubtful a truly effective method of dealing with them could be implemented, I'd really like to see this kicked into touch. Especially seeing the growing abuse female gamers are getting from male gamers (seems to mostly come from XBL, which is unsurprising) something has to be done about that. It's vile and despicable behaviour.

Man, I seriously would want to see what this harassment is, because in all my years of playing online, I've never come across it.

I think if there's one thing I agree on about harassment is women, if a woman reveals her identity there's always a bunch of retards that need to emphasize that fact. Then again, I have seen women that support the notion, as per example in a starcraft2 game where I stomped an opposing team with my buddy and they had to make us acknowledge that they were women (if you don't see the point of this, it basically degrades them because winning against a woman is like winning against someone less intelligent). Also, wee've all seen GURL GAMERS LOL XD :P ^_^ <3, so you know what I'm talking about.

I think it's more culture and stereotypes at play here, until people get over that, the "harassment" will probably persist in this area.

Was that just your assumption, then? Or did they make it clear that they felt inferior due to their sex?

Just seems like a very odd thing to do.

They made it clear they felt inferior due to their sex. Lines like "Oh how do you feel like winning against women" etc.

Agreed it was odd and I probably didn't know for sure if they were women or not, but the point is that the stereotype that girls can't be as good as gamers as males (or just the fact that the sex matters?) does exist in some peoples minds. This is not restricted to this example as I have run across countless of times where a girl usually says " well whatever, I'm a girl so winning against me doesn't matter/don't expect me to play well/whatever" (it was while playing super smash bros at a friends house).

Anyway, I have no statistical evidence to show, as far as opinions go, this is what I think is a problem, the idea that most females and males distinguish themselves more than they should from each other, but that's not something that appears just in gaming.
