So, this organization has come up with the idea to "create a community that is welcoming to all". The plan is, you sign the pledge, and once they get enough people on board, the group will seek the help of developers in order to achieve their goal.
Quote:
THE PLEDGE:
As a gamer, I realize I contribute to an incredibly diverse social network of gamers around the world, and that my actions have the ability to impact others. In effort to make a positive impact, and to create a community that is welcoming to all, I pledge to not use bigoted language while gaming, online and otherwise.

So, here's the problem: People who use this language aren't going to see this, and they certainly don't care for this cause, either. Who will this impact? Also, is it pointless?
I doubt this will make an impact on anything.  Anyway, I avoid these idiots by not playing online games, period.  So, this petition is kind of pointless, especially since you can just block or mute those people.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that Facepalm
Ya'll have Dead Nation? So do I. lets plaaayyy.
I decided to watch the video (link if you cbf copying out of an image) which is a bit sensationalist, overly verbose, but has a bit of a point.  So that you don't have to watch it, they're basically saying to implement something like auto-muting on players that have often been muted in the past (eg bad karma).  Probably the only other workable idea I see is the clan rating thing, but only for games where clans make sense...

IMO, auto-blocking kinda does make sense, assuming it's implemented properly.  I don't feel that online harassment is that big of an issue - just ignore them, but I guess some people find it distracting/annoying.

Send me a message some time when you see me online
Dead nation? I think I have that as well
Pointless.
Won't work.
