Thing is, virtualisation only works on like CPU architectures (eg x86 on x86).
I'm guessing he's either referring to a full x86 emulator (which would be slow - just think how much CPU power you need to emulate a 300MHz PS2 system, and with speedhacks) or some virtual Linux environment (similar to cygwin or MSYS giving Unix environment on Windows). Latter is faster, but more difficult to make work.

:D I don't know what I'm doing :D
I figured out the answer to my latest problem, which is I need to install ia32-libs but ubuntu won't let me do so... I need some way to connect to the "universe" that everyone speaks of in order to install it.
Basically I need a way for me to install it manually, because everything I've tried hasn't worked at all... : |

RE: The Visual Novel Thread
since I'm finally done with the Sono Hanabira series
(almost that is skip the 6th installment since that one hasn't been fully translated and no patch has been released) [a total of 7 installments it's not a visual novel but a Yuri Eroge :3]
back on-topic
ok so i tried Katawa Shoujo and damn i like :3 finished Lilly's route and gonna go with Hanako's route next

I was rather disappointed when I tired Sono Hanabira after hearing some praises from some people. Only first one (haven't tried any of the others).
Doesn't really have a story, and the whole thing is just super sugary fluff talk. Also, for a nukige, the h-scenes aren't very hot either (ofcourse that's very subjective depending on your tastes). So yeah, I'm not impressed with it.
There's a lot more than 7, a new one releases every so often. Probably around 10 right now.
And "Visual Novels" technically cover everything in the visual novel format, regardless of whether it's yuri or has ero or not. The only stuff which counts under "eroge" but not "visual novel" are gameplay stuff like Sengoku Rance.

RE: The Visual Novel Thread
Just went into Act 4 of Emi's route in Katawa Shoujo - the depth of the story has took me by surprise. I've taken 8 hours on this route.. maybe I'm slow or something but I didn't expect it to be this long regardless. A surprising level of story depth is always welcome.
Making me realize just how big the game is. Still can't get over the fact it's free. Brilliant stuff.

Ah, you're just VNC'ing across. I'm suspicious over how much bandwidth it'd use, but probably doable over WiFi.

anyway about Katawa Shoujo (I've rank their route according to my liking) I'm done with Lily's Route, (Rank 2) Hanako's Route (Rank 1) Emi's Route (Hasn't been decided XD)
Currently doing Rin's Route then it'll be Shizune next :3

RE: The Visual Novel Thread
There's a patch for Linux version. Mebbe that'll help?
Also playing the game right now, and I must say this is possibly one of the best VN I've ever played. No lags, just smooth. Everything I wanted in terms of graphics. Just a question though, does anyone hear voiceovers/does this have one?
