Agreed it was odd and I probably didn't know for sure if they were women or not, but the point is that the stereotype that girls can't be as good as gamers as males (or just the fact that the sex matters?) does exist in some peoples minds. This is not restricted to this example as I have run across countless of times where a girl usually says " well whatever, I'm a girl so winning against me doesn't matter/don't expect me to play well/whatever" (it was while playing super smash bros at a friends house).

Anyway, I have no statistical evidence to show, as far as opinions go, this is what I think is a problem, the idea that most females and males distinguish themselves more than they should from each other, but that's not something that appears just in gaming.
