Am on final mission now. I've just been an achievement whore this whole time. Just need the last 3 achievements. If you are on the US server, I am Hellgiver, code 485. I'm going to be playing multiplayer a lot more starting tomorrow.
Went up to the last mission yesterday night. Kerrigan rolled me (hard setting) the first time and it was too late to try again.

You don't have to do the forced upgrades, if you really really don't want them. Just block Starcraft's internet access. This may not be a good idea, but it does work if you're only playing the campaigns or something (eg. if you're using the crack, the update will screw over the crack, so you're force to do that).

I found that getting like 12 banshees and having them rush each nydus worm makes the mission infinitely easier. Just got to worry about Kerrigan then... though I think the mission would be a lot easier if I weren't going for the Aces High achievement -.- Almost made me cry from frustration.
Played a few campaigns today. Well, I suck too much, or maybe it's cause I do stuff I'm not supposed to do (like trying to kill the enemy base when you're not really supposed to), as I end up taking like an hour per mission.
Yeah, some of the missions absolutely do not want you to attack certain areas, if the areas are not specifically mission related, such as if you are supposed to be protecting civilians, or gathering minerals, they make the enemy bases crazy fortified, with almost no build time, and infinite resources. So, if you push in with a 200/200 army, you may think you are making headway, but they'll rebuild the base in a matter of seconds.
Just got to save constantly, and learn what areas are "forbidden". For instance, the level where you try to get the contract for Mira, don't walk up in the upper left and try to take on that main base until you've gotten her contract, or you'll get toasted by hero tanks and mass defenses. Kinda cool, but also, kinda lame. I haven't tried mass nuking such bases yet, though ^^
The laser drilling mission was fun - just burn random targets with the thing. Also managed to take out a base with Nexus in that one (laser is double you tee eff powerful), but I got through the door before I could do much else.
Now I have to decide, Raven or Science Vessel. I think I'll go with the former...

I took out all the bases in the 20 minute Zerg defend mission (the one close to the start, where you can only build marines and medics). I think one of the achievements required it, and that was before I figured out that the achievements didn't work on the crack. It was like crazy hard taking out all the bases and defending at the same time, within the given time limit (playing on hard. Normal would probably be easy).

Can probably easily rape all the bases with the laser if you really feel like it.
Just float some building somewhere near their base to give you sight, and use the laser to snipe everything in the base.
If you don't know already (you 97% likely do know), you can hold shift while issuing commands to queue them, so pretty much... hold shift, right click, right click, right click... their whole base.

I went with the Raven, the sole reason being that it's new (used the science vessel before is SC1).
The vessel can repair ships and buildings now so I went with that. :)

How fast?
Because if I use a heavily mechanical army, I bring some SCVs along anyway (unless it's a flyer army).
Depends on how good irradiate is. If it works against Zerg buildings, it could be useful.
Otherwise auto-turret for random harassment.
