sounds good.
but it doesn't make any sense, they "blocked" topmenu_plugin.rco from older firmwares on purpose why should they "unblock" them again :O

Because they are stupid, and what is the prob with that?
If wee change our icons, they won't lose any money, and if wee brick it, they will get money.
So maybe they are smart and just let us brick our psp's. :P

I thought so as well.
But the 3.10 topmenu does include 1 or 2 more page resources than any other 2.00+ RCOs. This is what causes the 7th menu when placed on 3.03.
Don't ask me why they did it. I personally don't think it was to stop customization, but then, I don't know why it was there too - probably they planned on putting a 7th XMB item (maybe to do with the Jap TV thingy?) but later decided not to?
The number of page resources in the 3.30 and 3.03 topmenu look the same, and the fact that a 3.30 topmenu works fine on 3.03 pretty much confirms it. It's only page data (don't know much about anim) that causes bricking. Invalid/non-existent image or text resources won't cause bricking - the PSP simply won't load them (example: using a non-edited 2.50 RCO on 3.03).

RE: About 3.30's RCOs
So has anyone actually managed to decrypt the 3.30 topmenu_plugin for customisation, or is everyone still only speculating because it's possible to port an encrypted RCO to 3.03??

RE: About 3.30's RCOs
I maybe wrong but i think that the seventh menu thingy was probably added in order to see if it worked and after testing sony probably decided to blank it out and wait until they release something new. My guess is that they are waiting until they release that HOME thing for the PS3 and then they'll release a new firmware (probably 4.0) for the psp that has HOME as the seventh menu with other sub-menus.
well that's just what i think and im probably nowhere near right.

Has anyone tried it yet? I can't since I'm not at home for at least half a day.
