RE: PC Build 4
really? becasue the Graphics card normally covers the top slot and the slot under it

i need the mini PCI slot (which is the that slot). I'm looking into other boards now

these would work:

Oh, didn't think about the motherboard.
Depends on whether you get a single or dual slot GPU.

RE: PC Build 4
is it possible to get a single slotted GPU these days because all the ones i find are dual slots

would it improve performance? then using onboard? because the CPU i have has a decent GPU on it (it would be cheaper and maybe effective to increase the RAM on board)

any mid range GPU will be better than the igpu

there are still single slot GPU's, though some have custom coolers that extend quite a bit
your best bet would be this 7750

or you could get a 6670 and crossfire it with the A8

..

hmm .. seems you can crossfire with a 7750 as well?

edit:

your motherboard choice has
  • 1 pcie @ 16x (16x physical) dual slot GPU
  • 1 pcie @ 1x (1x physical) goes here
  • 1 pci
  • 1 pcie @ 4x (16x physical) plug your capture card here

*you can plug a 1x card in a 16x physical slot, no problem

RE: PC Build 4

Boogs. Assuming you placed the slots in order. The capture card requires the 2nd slot from the top

Although the 7750 seems like a good idea otherwise.

I also keep forgetting I have a spare 550w on hand. And might have gotten a ssd drive

Assassinator. I am throwing steam on there as well.

For your information you can plug a PCIe 1x card into a PCIe 4x or 16x slot...

RE: PC Build 4
Interesting. Although is that really a good idea?

I might go with the graphics card I picked before

RE: PC Build 4
now i don't trust you.

wait:

wikipedia Wrote:A PCIe card fits into a slot of its physical size or larger (maximum ×16), but may not fit into a smaller PCIe slot (e.g.,a ×16 card in a ×8 slot). Some slots use open-ended sockets to permit physically longer cards and negotiate the best available electrical connection. The number of lanes actually connected to a slot may also be less than the number supported by the physical slot size.

nevermind

then my original plan for a Graphics card was this one:
http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX42009

changed my MB to the D3H
http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX42952

The HDD (7200RPM)
http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX36849

The Boot Device (SSD - its out of stock in the city (i know somebody who is going to sell it to me))
