Threaded Mode | Linear Mode

There's going to be an announcement on Feb 20th, so more details to come.
From source, currently known stuff:

Controller
Redesigned, similar size to existing DualShock, but has a touchpad which replaces select/start/PS button.
There will also be a Share button, so that they can join with all this social craze stuff.

Specs

AMD 8 core (4 module?) 1.6GHz 'Liverpool' APU (Steamroller arch?)
4GB GDDR5 (Sony is going to try to match the next Xbox's 8GB)
AMD GPU, quoted as "R10XX architecture", probably based off a RadeonHD 7/8xxx (it sounds like a discrete GPU as opposed to the integrated one)

Interesting that both the PS4 and next Xbox (note that the next Xbox is expected to have similar specifications) will be using x86 CPUs and possibly commodity GPUs. I wonder whether this will be leveraged in some way.
I'd say that it's unlikely the PS4 will run PS3 games, unless they include hardware to specifically do this.

Expected to be released around Christmas this year in Japan/US, and probably later elsewhere.

It will make porting to and from PC a lot easier at least.

They probably will, and then remove it in future firmware updates Hahaha

This is all still rumor, specs and all. However I do think this announcement of theirs will definitely be the PS4.

the only thing i care about is the price, i hope it's not more expensive than the wii U. which is already expensive, but considering all dat power.

ps3 came out 6 years after the ps2 and they continued releasing titles for ps2 well after i.

PS4 is coming out 7 years after the ps3 not including the titles that will still be released for it,

ps3 probably won't have any hope for working on PS4 because of the Cell CPU Architecture.

developers will love programming for ps4 compared to ps3 if it has an x86 CPU.

woah no need for the hostility man... i doubt whether they'll keep the ps3 going for long after the ps4's release it just seems a very sony-like thing to fudge us over and the ps4 will have an entirely different cpu which means devs probably won't want to make games for it. the main concern i have is whether companies will keep their ps3 servers running for long
