It could be an account maker bot.....but at any rate, yeah you should contact sony and have the account shut down.

RE: Why does users make many accounts on PsN
one account for each region
different games are in some regions and not in others
but the email
it maybe a sPa/\/\ message, using fake header info it make it look real, but it for stealing info, there are many many many sPa/\/\ emails like that
PSP 1.5 got on USA first day is was 1.5 till Xmas 2006 now 4.01 M33 » 5.00 M33-6(with the 1.50 addon)
It a good idea to have " Hide extensions for known file types" in Folder Options(under Tool) unchecked (turn on extensions)
READ THE README.TXT
got a Refurbished 60gb PS3 FW:3.41 on 01/20/2008

I can see that as a very probable answer as well (regarding with what“it” is
)

RE: Why does users make many accounts on PsN
You could check the header data to see if it is from Sony.

RE: Why does users make many accounts on PsN
That's it. See if you can find the exact IP it came from. It looks like it came from Sony, but there are ways to send spoofed emails.

RE: Why does users make many accounts on PsN
If the name/address details are accurate, then it's likely authentic as phishers typically can't get this information easily. Also phishers probably don't have any reason to send you an 'account created' email.
Could've just been a mistake.
