RE: Anime Chatter with Senseito
Started Glass Mask (2005) last week and a dozen episodes in.

An anime about a girl who is truly hopeless because of her obsession with acting and then her pursuit to become an actress.

Dramatic but not over the top. A captivating production that has me wanting to watch more and more. The fact its just over 50 episodes long just makes me happier.

Your choice of anime getting influenced by your sister?

I personally can't imagine watching anything together with my sister to be honest.

Actually, if I don't enjoy what I'm watching I'm pretty hard-line and just drop it. Even ones I watch with my sister - I just let her watch the rest if she chooses to.

She usually doesn't - if there was one title I regret dropping with my sister it was probably Gosick. It went through a boring patch and I dropped it even though my sister was enjoying it still.

Wee picked it up again recently and it's been very good but I'm lost in the plot so I put it on hold again - will revisit an earlier arc to figure things out.

Generally though, I make the decisions for what wee watch unless she really doesn't want to watch a title in which case I don't bother or watch it by myself. Recently, I give her several titles to choose from, she picks one and wee watch it. Therefore, no arguments and both parties happy.

Wee decide seasonal stuff together, though, but the last two seasons have seen us watch very few seasonal stuff and watch more older titles. Because they are much more likely to be better. Yeah.

Edit: Oh, and I'm not ashamed to say I've enjoyed most if not all the titles that I've seen that are supposedly targeted towards girls/women. Especially after Onii-sama e... I've gained an appreciation for the kind of stories that are written for said audience.

RE: Anime Chatter with Senseito
For me the problem isn't choice, it's rather that I don't really think I can get into stuff as much with my sister sitting next to me, especially emotional stuff.

So the only stuff I would watch with her are light hearted stuff like comedy or slice-of-life I guess.

I can understand that. Naturally hold yourself back is the expected affect of having someone around you while watching something like that.

Makes it more a challenge for the anime really. Onii-sama e... was very intense at times and I could tell it was getting to my sister - with it involving girls it became more personal but it still got to me with its very dark themes.

Key adaptations still had my eyes watering even when watching with my sister. Sometimes even more so. ^^'

Fanservice moments can be awkward sometimes... I just keep my eyes to the screen and wait to see if my sister makes a remark about it. xD

Obligatory Angel Beats comment:
The ending made my sister cry. Made me put on a "wtf is this shit" face.

RE: Anime Chatter with Senseito
Senseito7, do you have any good anime that might be worth for an adventuring person to look into? One that has plenty of fast pace action, a pinch of drama and romance, and one where they don't just stand there for two or three episodes explaining why they did something where the protagonist could have just offed the villain right there.

I'm serious, I'm anime savy or anything, but I'd like to get one where they don't act like complete idiots when they fight.

Also did you ever get to check out Kino's Journey?

"If you see a person jumping down the street, you can tell his preferences by shooting at the guy. If he starts whining, he plays Counter-Strike. If he charges you wielding an axe, you just interrupted a Morrowind player buffing his Acrobatics."

Damn I would watch anything with my sister if I can get to see something like that.

Unfortunately I don't think she would ever cry in front of me.

Well I'm watching quite a few things at the moment but like said - I do plan on watching it at some point.

I've not seen a lot of "adventuring" type stuff of your description but something that might fit the bill that I saw a few episode of is Allison & Lillia - http://myanimelist.net/anime.php?id=3549.

That is unfortunate.

RE: Anime Chatter with Senseito
Thank you, and I will have to look at it later then, when I have an unblocked computer... but so far it looks pretty good, set in WWI probably, and the animation reminds me of Kino no Tabi a bit, just the simplicity of it and how the smoothness of the character designs, just a little.

I'm sure you'll like Kino's Journey though, if not then you'll be with the handful who hate it with a passion.
