American exceptionalism
Emptyone
Excuse me everyone, but I am wondering your opinion on America and it's take on exceptionalism in the world. I need opinions for my research in Debate. I'm asking, please for you guys to help me out here.

RE: American exceptionalism
This isn't on homework, I'm gathering research, and this pertains to people all over the world, if America or any other country makes up world wide rules, should America be the exception to those rules or should they follow it like everyone else?

RE: American exceptionalism
It seems unfair that one nation has to be exempt from something

By the way it's starting to sound like Rupert Murdoch

RE: American exceptionalism
On the one hand, I don't like how wee push ourselves everywhere, but there's also the fact that our government has agents working in pretty much every place on the globe. It is very possible that they have a better grasp on the big picture of what's going on in the world than you or I. I'm not saying they're right or wrong, but until one is in that situation themselves, is it really right to judge? On the one hand, people complain that wee police the world, but looking at it objectively, our nation does have a relatively high quality of life compared to the rest of the world. Wee may not be the perfect example of what a world leader should be, but wee're at least on par with any alternatives.

RE: American exceptionalism
America sees themselves as the world's superhero and likes to stick it's nose in everywhere.
America deserves no special privileges, it is no better or worse than any country in the world.
As a nation America comes off very arrogant. Now I know this isn't true of all people in America, but as a nation that is the impression i get from people.

If I said something... Then I would viewed as "un-patriotic" but I'll say it anyway:  I think America needs to mind it's own fucking business and let other countries deal with their own fucking problems.

It's all fine, I'm not going to get on to you for your opinions, America is pretty bad off sometimes, I wish wee could get someone who'll turn it around. But I guess the good people in it are just going to stay like this Sadcorner

Conveniently, people in such a position probably don't have a right to judge either, due to whatever confidentiality contract they're bound to.

I'd argue that there are a fair number of places where the standard of life is better.  Then again, the standard does vary depending on where you are in the US.

But anyway, being a world power is pointless if you can't abuse it.  Forcing their rules onto everyone else is kinda expected.
