Last time I tried to do that, I couldn't keep up with what happening because it was all to fast.

I've watched stuff at 2x speed, though usually run it at 1.5x through boring/lame/corny parts.

With Bleach (I presume Naruto is similar), you can just have it running in the background and just look back at it every now and then.
