I need something with one.

something with lots of emotion, something I can play/read/watch/whatever, and completely forget about real life.

Also, something with some nice romance is definitely a plus (like ME and ME2).

You'll want to play FF IX; the only ff i really liked and it's very whimsical, sounds like what you're looking for.

I've actually played about half way through IX, but never beat it. I should get back on that.

Also, for games, I should mention what I have:
360, but no real way easy to get games for it.
Really chocolatety PC. Old games are fine, but nothing older than like 2003ish.

Spoiler for specs:

PSP, and with that comes all the systems emulatable by it.
DS with AceKard 2i

Also, I'm attempting to play through the first KotOR again, and it runs fine until my PC starts to get hot. I've got a cooling pad on the way, so that should help.

I know what you probably haven't played that you may enjoy, Valkyrie Profile.

and if you can't handle playing as a girl in the first (though the story is the best in that one...) you can play Valkyrie Profile 3 Covenant of the Plume on the DS, obviously you don't need to know anything about 1 and 2 to play it. Also, the ratings are spoon for the game, it's A LOT better than the critics say; oh well, that's my opinion however. Also, play the PSP version and not the PSX version.

Yeah, if you played Mass Effect i would've recommended those as well.

I actually downloaded that in one of my PSP game downloading sprees a while back, but haven't gotten around to playing it. I'll chuck it on my PSP now. :)

The Legacy of Kain series. All of them are on pc im sure and will all run fine due to them being old games.

Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 2
Blood Omen 2: Legacy of Kain
Legacy of Kain: Defiance

in that order story-wise

The most engaging games ive played on psp story wise and MGS peace walker and Crisis Core, but im sure you have played them.

Trade your xbox for a PS3 and get MGS4 and you'll cry over the ending.

The manga Berserk, although slow, is very powerful when it hits the climax of the story.

Any book by Dan Brown (particularly angels and demons if you haven't seen the movie) is awesome stuff.

And if you can track down the original (as in uncut version) copy of the Count of Monte Cristo by Alexander Dumas not only will it take years to read but it will indeed tell you one hell of a story.

Yep, read all those. But it's been a while, so I may read them again. (Although I haven't read his newest, The Lost Symbol).

According to Wikipedia, 1312 pages. Holy spoon! Longest book I've read is Stephen King's IT, which is like 1100 pages.

My computer is far worse than yours spec wise and it runs Defiance, which is the most recent one, fine.

Soul Reaver has the kick as Gothic story but Blood Omen is where it all begins. So I recommend both.

Stephen Kings IT is win. Haven't read it but researched it after i was studying Donnie Darko as it appears in that. Sounds freaking awesome like all his books.

Is the PC you tried it on Desktop or laptop? If it's a desktop it likely has a dedicated graphics card, so even with much worse specs, it chocolates on mine for gaming.

And I meant would you recommend the PC or PSX version lol. I was intending on playing both. :p
