something with lots of emotion, something I can play/read/watch/whatever, and completely forget about real life.
Also, something with some nice romance is definitely a plus (like ME and ME2).
Please, and thanks.
AND SOME OF MY OWN RECOMMENDATIONS:
Spoiler:
Games: Mass Effect 1 and 2:
Among two of my favourite games everrrr. The game play is great, for both, and the stories are absolutely incredible. The Mass Effect universe is one of the most expansive game universes of any game I've ever played. The amount of thought and creativity put into creating this universe just blows me away. The characters are brilliant, and you feel a real connection with them; it doesn't feel like you're just playing some game, it feels like you've become a part of this universe. (Which is essentially what I'm looking for with this thread. :p )
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic:
Another amazing one. The story for this game completely blew me away. Plot twists and the like will surprise the hell out of you.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II:
Also great. The story isn't as great as the first, but gameplay wise, it's much improved.
The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind:
imo, this game is soooo much better than Oblivion in every way, except for the game engine. The story is so much better, you can do so much more, but the combat engine is kinda chocolatety if you've played Oblivion. Still one of my favourite games ever.
Books: The Harry Potter series:
Yeah I know, childish right? Well, if you've seen the movies, then yeah. As far as I'm concerned, the movies are poo poo. But the books are so great. The amount of emotion, and overall epicness in the books is incredible. Definitely, my favourite book series ever. If you haven't seen the movies, please do not watch them before reading the books, and if you have, completely forget them before reading these.
Stephen King's IT:
So goddamn great. My favourite single book ever. It's so long, that by the time it's over, you want to start reading it again. Also, the TV movie of this was such a huge disappointment. First of all, it was made for TV; that alone says it'll be poo poo lol. Second, they literally took out half the book. poo poo. The book is absolutely incredible.
Mass Effect: Revelation:
If you've played Mass Effect, this one is a must. Written by the lead writer of Mass Effect 1 and 2, KotOR, BGII, etc. (man is a creative genius), it's a prequel to the first Mass Effect. He also wrote two Mass Effect other books, one taking place between ME 1 and 2, and the other after 2, which I am in the process of reading, and am sure they are as great.
Film/TV/Anime/etc.: FLCL:
Best anime everrr. I love the story to this one. It's such a mindfudge, but it's filled with emotion, and awesome humour. It's short, but that gives you more time to watch it over and over until you fully understand it. ;p
Donnie Darko:
If you have any love for time-travel, you must watch this. Easily my favourite live-action movie. Such a complete mindfudge, and again, you have to watch it many times to fully understand it. I've watched it countless times, but still everytime I watch it, I'll notice something I hadn't before.
Trigun:
Another one of my favourite animes. Another very emotional, epic story, with plenty of humour. :D
I'm gay.

RE: I need something with a ridiculously immersive storyline
I've actually played about half way through IX, but never beat it. I should get back on that.
Thanks.
Also, for games, I should mention what I have:
360, but no real way easy to get games for it.
Really chocolatety PC. Old games are fine, but nothing older than like 2003ish.
Spoiler for specs:
2gHz Dual Core AMD processor
2GB 667mHz RAM
nVidia GeForce 7150m (what kills it; chocolatety integrated card)
Windows XP and Linux
PSP, and with that comes all the systems emulatable by it.
DS with AceKard 2i
Also, I'm attempting to play through the first KotOR again, and it runs fine until my PC starts to get hot. I've got a cooling pad on the way, so that should help.

I know what you probably haven't played that you may enjoy, Valkyrie Profile.
and if you can't handle playing as a girl in the first (though the story is the best in that one...) you can play Valkyrie Profile 3 Covenant of the Plume on the DS, obviously you don't need to know anything about 1 and 2 to play it. Also, the ratings are spoon for the game, it's A LOT better than the critics say; oh well, that's my opinion however. Also, play the PSP version and not the PSX version.
Yeah, if you played Mass Effect i would've recommended those as well.

Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth?
I actually downloaded that in one of my PSP game downloading sprees a while back, but haven't gotten around to playing it. I'll chuck it on my PSP now. :)
Thanks again.

The Legacy of Kain series. All of them are on pc im sure and will all run fine due to them being old games.
Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 2
Blood Omen 2: Legacy of Kain
Legacy of Kain: Defiance
in that order story-wise
The most engaging games ive played on psp story wise and MGS peace walker and Crisis Core, but im sure you have played them.
Trade your xbox for a PS3 and get MGS4 and you'll cry over the ending.
The manga Berserk, although slow, is very powerful when it hits the climax of the story.
Any book by Dan Brown (particularly angels and demons if you haven't seen the movie) is awesome stuff.
And if you can track down the original (as in uncut version) copy of the Count of Monte Cristo by Alexander Dumas not only will it take years to read but it will indeed tell you one hell of a story.

I doubt the PS2/Xbox generation ones would run on my PC perfectly, but I'll give them a shot.
Would you reccomend the PC or PSX versions of the first two?

Yep, played them both. :p

heh. I do want a PS3, now that it's hacked as balls.

I'll check it out!

Yep, read all those. But it's been a while, so I may read them again. (Although I haven't read his newest, The Lost Symbol).

According to Wikipedia, 1312 pages. Holy spoon! Longest book I've read is Stephen King's IT, which is like 1100 pages.

That's some good stuff there. I might check out the books at the end, reading Berserk manga by the way, liking it so far.
Thanks

My computer is far worse than yours spec wise and it runs Defiance, which is the most recent one, fine.
Soul Reaver has the kick as Gothic story but Blood Omen is where it all begins. So I recommend both.

Stephen Kings IT is win. Haven't read it but researched it after i was studying Donnie Darko as it appears in that. Sounds freaking awesome like all his books.

Is the PC you tried it on Desktop or laptop? If it's a desktop it likely has a dedicated graphics card, so even with much worse specs, it chocolates on mine for gaming.
And I meant would you recommend the PC or PSX version lol. I was intending on playing both. :p
