nubcakes?
Fast as hell, webkit, better than firebug developer tools, great user interface and plugins/themes all that's jazz etc (if you care about that stuff)
Why is Firefox better?
umm?

Firefox still has the best extensions out there.
Opera-wise however..
Faster than Chrome, Carakan & Presto, Dragonfly, imo better user interface (and it's speed dial is unparalleled) and themes if you need 'em, but it's usually nice enough not to bother. Opera 11 is setting the groundwork for proper extensions and I can't wait

Why is Firefox better?
because its more widely supported, that and the fact chrome has the worlds worst gif renderer EVER
lol @ GIF, once that 'bug' is removed you're left with 'more widely supported'. Which means what exactly? That more people use it? develop for it? Just because more people use it, that doesn't mean it's better...obviously...

Granted Firefox will have a much larger db of extensions due to chrome being (I believe) a lot newer. There are already a considerable amount of useful extensions for chrome and more are being added everyday.
Opera does seem to be gaining even more popularity lately. Faster than google eh? /me Downloads Opera
umm?

But so long as the browser isn't IE then there must be a valid reason why someone chose that particular alternative browser... Firefox was the first start and I've got to give Google credit, in more ways than one they managed to streamline the browser UI and that, along with their brand and advertising has got them a slice of the user pie - but it's still unmatched compared to Firefox, which has made it's name being better than IE, reliable and it's extensions was a massive boost into getting as much people switched over as they have. It'll be hard to beat it with Firefox 4 boosting back into the ranks, this competition is very healthy and I can't wait to see it all push HTML5 and CSS3 to become the defacto standards.
And regarding GIF, it's animation capability is used very widely around the net.. APNG isn't taking over anytime soon so you'd think it would get sorted out.
