I used to have some strange virus on my USB stick that any computer it connects to spreads the virus to that computer. It's does nothing, or at least nothing that the user won't notice, probably some virus that works in background to look through the HDD to find any personal information and sends to back so it can be taken advantage of.

Typical autorun.inf thing.
I totally disable autorun on my machine (it pisses me off anyway), which also effectively blocks these types of viruses spreading through this method (at least to my computer).

Most viruses don't try to make it obvious to the end user that they're running.  Making your comp into a zombie is a popular thing to do.

I almost never use mine. Most of the time though its used to transfer random junk from one computer to the next. Often at times I can never be bothered deleting it from the uh... stick.
