There's a number of people on here who seem to like building PCs, so what do you think?
Given a purpose and a price limit, people submit builds and then others vote on what they like the most.
It'll probably have to be standardised - like, from the same store as prices may vary geographically etc.

Good or shabby idea?

If that was the case, you can expect price limits to be around the $10 mark.

alsnew issues is that ram prices have doubled basically over the year

ram i paid £50 last year is now valued aroun £120

I think that will mostly be finding the cheapest parts, assuming you're trying to keep with x86 compatibility and going for a new machine.  Otherwise, I think the cheapest would be some old 486 you might find at the dumpster (that still actually works)...

It will probably be based on current prices, if that's what you're trying to point out.

Using new parts only with x86 compatibility. If it can run XP and do the normal day to day tasks like internet browsing and music playing then I'd call it fully functioning.

I still think that will mostly be a "go to CPU section, sort by price, go to motherboard section, sort by price" etc type thing, unless someone sources new older hardware from somewhere.
