RE: features of firmware 6.00
Not sure if this is a new feature, but 6.00 appears to be playing a 720x576 H.264 video. Don't recall 5.00 supporting this (used to be restricted to 720x480), but I wonder if this means that some other video stuff is unlocked, or just that stuff might look better for TV out...

RE: features of firmware 6.00
Nope, 5.00 doesn't support 720x576 - doesn't work in PPA either. Haven't tried 5.50 yet.
6.00 won't play a 352x240 Xvid video, but does work in 5.00 M33 - I'm guessing that may be a hack probably. But 480x272 Xvid doesn't work in either (does work in PPA, but PPA doesn't seem to be accepting anything larger).
So Sony slipped in a video update in 5.50 or 6.00, though I don't think this has any effect on MPEG4-ASP video. Weird though, since UMDs are 720x480 and I always thought that to be the max resolution the hardware decoder could handle.

@Zingaburga if you got a 720x576 test video i can see if 550 the 720x576 playback also is updated,.

RE: features of firmware 6.00
Just tried 5.50 GEN - 720x576 works so I guess it got slipped in there.
PPA won't play it though, so I'm guessing PPA is blocking stuff.
The 352x240 Xvid video doesn't work in 5.50 GEN either.
So I guess nothing new about video in 6.00.
I guess no-one noticed the change in 5.50, lol.

There's probably little reason why you'd use those resolutions as the PSP's screen is 480x272; higher resolutions won't look any better (in fact, they'll probably look worse due to extra resampling error).
XviD4PSP should work - dunno why it doesn't. Just make sure you've got the PSP profile up, and you're conforming to H.264, main profile, level 3 in your settings.
