RE: Mac vs. Windows vs. Linux: It ends now.
I can now contribute to this since I've used all the major OS's. ('cept Vista)
Anyways, I prefer XP because I enjoy games, and most games I own are for Windows.
Easy to use.
Don't need a fast computer. (Same with some distro's of Linux though)
Does what I need, and has lots of software.
Grew up with it.

The Macs wee got at school were quite nice. 2GHz, 1GB of RAM. (I feel so weird knowing that) Quite a bit of useful software for it.
And Linux... definitely not for me.

You do realize that is exactly the kind of thing I explicitly said NOT to say? This thread isn't about which is better, it's about why you like your OS of choice.

And the only Windows programs I NEED to use can most likely just be run in VMWare fusion. And same with the few games I play on PC, as those don't really have that high of system requirements.

Man, if I had 8 inches, I would find a better use for it :P
Like what, pushing elevator buttons?

RE: Mac vs. Windows vs. Linux: It ends now.
I grew up on windows..... because of this I know windows inside and out.

Never used linux, but also, never heard anything bad about it.

Just recently used a mac for the first time, and it was confusing as spoon to figure it out... but i got the gist of it now.

Windows for the win.

Always used Windows, used Mac a bit, and have very little (almost no) experience with Linux.

So it's only natural that I would prefer Windows. I'm far more familiar with it than anything else.

RE: Mac vs. Windows vs. Linux: It ends now.
I use all 3, XP mostly, because of my job, Mac 2nd, because I feel much more comfortable with it, and it does 99% of the things I do in windows. I use Linux because it it is the fastest OS, most customizable, not just the GUI but over all, and It's free.

That's what it's all about, games... Windows will always come up on top. If you could play most games in OS X or Linux people might switch.

The biggest problem is the stores.. If you would walk into Best Buy and buy a PC or Mac with Linux things would be different. The end user has no choice but to use Windows. I have much more to say on this subject, this is not the topic for that.

EPIC WIN.

On topic: I consider that macs are the best for image/video editing... and windows is the best for office use/gaming... linux is the best is resource efficiency/hacking/servers...

RE: Mac vs. Windows vs. Linux: It ends now.
If I had a Mac that would be so~ cool because I like more art stuff, although I have no reason to get a mac, also I don't have the money. I would probably get linux, you don't have to pay for it and it's more customizable, when it comes down to it, you love what you have.. because you have it. Not because its the best or better.

I am dual-booting linux with Vista.

I am typically a Windows guy but I have 3 macs in my house that I never use.
