seems more logical to make a rpg using that thing. but then game maker takes coder knowledge.

Alright, wee're falling apart here...
I'm a little busy these days unfortunately, so can't actually do much (lest the bulk of the work).
Is someone here willing to take an initiative? Wee need to get the groundwork for an overall design first, then wee can add in other parts.

If I were a character I would be a boss that would make incredibly hard damaku bullet patterns and ultimately, DIVINE BUSTER!!
As for what I can do...hmm...not sure, the general person I guess, considoring I made a whole game on my own.

Wee need a story line first IMO so people know what to work on.
Sparker maybe that's what you can do, make a storyline n how the game will work.

top down requires less sprites to make because you can just rotate them, I assume orthogonal is the typical RPG view and I find it's better than top down because it...er...it's more.....uh distinguished
