Goshi Wrote:Lunar Legend Tsukihime is by no means terrible however when you do compare it to the visual novel its pretty much inferior to it in every single way possible.
The artwork is uglier and the story has been changed considerably. Also once you know what Aoko is like in Melty Blood, you can't take the adaption of Aoko in the anime seriously =/
I'm talking about rating the anime as an anime. Like the 1st time u watched it, before seeing the visual novel. (I'm assuming u saw the anime before the visual novel, correct me otherwise) Comparison is not a good way to rate something.
And inferior in every single way? They are on different medium, so it's hard to make such conclusion, as different media needs different qualities. Rating an anime, u need to take into consideration also of the animation quality, music, other factors, and the storyline has to be looked at in the light that things WILL need to be cut out. Rating a visual novel, well, i don't know, but u can't really compare anime and visual novel.
Inferior in terms of storyline in every single way? yes... still no, solely because of the ero parts. The "every single way" is a hard goal to hit. IMO the visual novel would've been so much better without them, they screw over a completely good story. Nasu has a dirty mind... (To anyone who plans on reading the visual novel, please use the non ero patch. No, u don't want to see it. Not cool. Don't say i didn't warn u.)
If there wasn't any ero parts, then yes, i would say too that the visual novel has a strictly better storyline, but that's not unexpected, it is the original, and has room to cover a lot more stuff.
Goshi Wrote:Also I've played all routes except the Hisui and Kohaku routes (I'm going through Hisui's route though) and there's significant changes which I would list but I don't feel like -_-;
Also lets us not forget, the characters look really ugly in the anime.
It's been some time since i read the visual novel. Even longer since i watched the anime. The only major changes i clearly remember is the 1st encounter, and Nero's fight. That's not including stuff left out, as that is not changing the storyline. There are stuff added in as well, but if they "go with the flow" that's not really changing the story line either. Anyways, if they are very significant changes, like the 1st encounter, I probably would've remembered, so the changes are probably not very major.
Yes, it would've been a lot cooler if Nero's fight played out like it did in the visual novel, but that's again comparing to the visual novel, and can only be seen as a bad when comparing with the visual novel. For these who don't see the visual novel, it's fine. Problems of not being as good because something was changed from the storyline of the visual novel are non-existant without the knowledge of what happens in the visual novel, so in rating Tsukihime as an anime, wee shouldn't really take them into account.
Charactors don't look the best... well, true. But the Tsukihime visual novel charactors looked bad as well. I prefer the FSN visual novel charactors way more.
On the other hand, FSN was more faithful to the source, but i didn't like FSN that much. Mainly because of the flaws, and stuff that leaves u in the dark going "did i miss a few episodes (worth of information)?"... And the dragon made me "double you tee eff, lol", but i'd less want to see in graphical detail of what really happens, so the dragon's all cool.
