System requirements? It's like a 1997 game, and even then, its requirements were quite modest.
As for gameplay, there's similarities I guess. WC's inclusion of RPG elements changed a fair bit of the gameplay though.
I know how to play all of the mentioned games. HOWEVER;
Knowing how to play =/= Liking or being any good at it.
I never liked Starcraft or Warcraft because:
a) Blizzard made it (and god knows those faggots can't be original about any of their games. Played one awful RTS, played them all.)
b) Played more like an RTS-RPG than straight RTS (scale of control is individual units, values one moderately tough unit surviving for a long time; as opposed to a group of weaker units gone in a flash, but with production times that allow almost instantaneous replacement.)
I can't really explain the last point so well... it's like a sense rather than solid proof.
On the other hand, I love W40k: Dark Crusade and it's Necrons. I love any game that features such hard-hitting units or characters, it's how I roll. Never played or owned AoE 2, but I own AoE 1, and I don't imagine there will be much I can't handle.
