RE: Whot's best web browser?
MysterySword Wrote:Games like a Grrl Wrote:MysterySword Wrote:Chrome is fast, but it lacks good bookmark support (bookmarks are hard to get to). It's interface is overcomplicated, and is a major inconvenience.
False statement is false. I'm on chrome right now, I can get to any bookmark in a second. Open bookmark manager under the wrench icon, or just keep the bookmark bar up there.
I will check out k-meleon, never heard of it.
But the bookmark bar at the top wouldn't show all bookmarks, so I had to put my bookmarks in a folder, then I could click on the folder in the Bookmarks bar, and it wouldn't be that bad, but I still had to go through that process.
I thought that the interface still was pretty complicated, and where it shows downloads I didn't like. When ya open Chrome it wouldn't take me to the home page, which I didn't like either (and I didn't see an option for that). Well, maybe if I got used to it, I'd like it a bit more.
hmmm... the reason why bookmarks is chrome are not directly visible is because the intent of chrome is to offer a minimalistic look and largest possible viewing interface. Also, you can drag and drop some bookmarks on the bookmark bar..
and if you feel that clicking one extra time to go to you bookmarks is bad, then aren't you a living tribute to how technology made humans lazy...
MysterySword Wrote:Haha, I remember I used to use Opera 9 on my old 64MB RAM PC. Gave up on it, because with 64MB RAM, ya got to have the fastest loading web browser, which was K-Meleon.
question: When was this?
question 2: PDAs have more RAM now...
question 3: Why haven't you tried now, assuming, you have a better PC? I think that it is one of the best browsers... after all, many of firefox's plugins and chrome, were developed with Opera's features in mind...

MysterySword Wrote:Lol! Laziness and convenience are two different things. Besides, I don't mind when it takes a bit longer for some things, but to be honest, the faster you can reach a page, the better.
well... ah.. nevermind...
I did try using Avant Browser as well... it was good, the interface and all, but dead slow... waiting for Opera 10... supposed to be the most advanced browser when it comes out.

RE: Whot's best web browser?
MysterySword Wrote:Hmm... anyone ever tried Flock browser? I remember seeing it someplace a few months ago. I think I'll try it out...
EDIT: Flock is pretty nice. Looks a bit like Chrome (but Flock was before Chrome). I'm gonna try out this browser some more.
Flock is 90% firefox.. in fact you can even add firfox plugins to it... just some cosmetic changes here and there

Did'ja notice the two >> on the right of the bookmark toolbar? Clicky there and a dropdown menu comes up with the rest of the bookmarks.
Under options, Basics tab, you have the option to open to the following page, and put yer desired page in there.
Downloads, nuthin' can be done about that, it's at the bottom of the tab yer downloading it on.

RE: Whot's best web browser?
I say Firefox.
It has some very handy plugins available, and is said to be much safer than IE...

you may also want to add Apple Safari to that list...
