CD burning portion is probably stuffed then.

If you suspect a software issue, try another OS.  If that doesn't work, it's hardware.

If so, you can try one of those CD lens cleaners (probably won't work).

Otherwise, you're stuck to buying a new burner - they aren't that expensive these days anyway.  I just bought a new DVD burner cause the old one stopped burning DVDs... Erk
