I have not burnt a CD in a long time, but I burn DVD's all the time so my disk drive works. Bur for some reason when I put a CD-R in it, the computer does nothing, you can hear it inside spinning but does nothing.
Does any one know why this could happen?? Im clueless
But the way I have Window Vista Ultimate.
PooP
Thanks
hmm, have you tried opening it with windows explorer or some program like Nero?
maybe the cd is bad.
sometimes drives do that i think
ive heard a couple of cases when people played the ps1 games on their ps2, and after a while it stopped reading dvd ps2 games..
i suggest what diego said, also try unplugging and replugging your disk drive

I burn dvds like everyday so the burner works
i could try un pluging it though..?
Try other CDs. Brand new doesn't necessarily mean un-faulty...
you could also try upgrading the firmware and drivers for your drive.

I have tried this, they don't need updated
I have tired 2 types of CD's now and it still don't work
maybe ur lens is getting bad
But I burn dvd's EVERYDAY!
and they always work just fine
CD burning portion is probably stuffed then.
If you suspect a software issue, try another OS. If that doesn't work, it's hardware.
If so, you can try one of those CD lens cleaners (probably won't work).
Otherwise, you're stuck to buying a new burner - they aren't that expensive these days anyway. I just bought a new DVD burner cause the old one stopped burning DVDs...
