Sometimes on certain chipsets USB hardware hybernates and doesn't fire itself up again properly making it go slower, you could try these steps to fix it.



1. Click Start, and right-click My Computer.
2. Click Properties, then click Hardware.
3. Click Device Manager.
4. Double-click Universal Serial Bus Controllers.
5. Right-click USB Root Hub, and then click Properties.
6. Click Power Management.
7. Unselect Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
8. Repeat Steps 5 through 7 for each USB Root Hub.
9. Click OK, and close Device Manager.

Other than this ben3gfc is very right transfering multiple files take a hell of alot longer than one big file and always make sure your machines BIOS is upto date (latest version id available on HP's site HERE
