i = interlaced, that's what the "scanlines" are.  If you make it record interlaced, then obviously it will give you interlaced.

Probably not your normal scan lines... (at least I wouldn't think so, but wouldn't know since I've never had a 1080i anything)

Interlacing is a TV thing.  On TVs, line refresh works like this, first refresh all odd lines (1,3,5,...), then refesh all even lines (2,4,6...), then odd lines again, and so on.  So some people came up with a trick called interlacing, which is combining 2 frames into 1 frame by interleaving it, so all odd lines come from frame 1, and all even lines from frame 2.  Interlacing is used to effectively get double fps on a TV - 30fps interlaced stuff basically looks like 60fps.  And there are other processes like telecine, go research yourself if interested.

Computer monitors don't work that way, so instead you see combing (the proper word, it's not really "scanlines") everywhere.  To make interlaced stuff not look poo poo on your computer, you have to deinterlace it (or IVTC if the source in telecined).

It doesn't matter what your monitor runs, you're capturing TV, so what your TV runs is the only thing that matters.  Because capturing at any frame rate higher than the native frame rate of the TV is just dumb, all you get is loads of duplicate frames.
