I still have a brick phone (with limited capability) but to compensate, I have an iPod touch to do whatever the phone is missing.
That way, if I lose the iPod, I still have a way of emergency calling or if I lose the phone, there's Skype or Facebook on the iPod to contact mah 'rents when I'm out.
