Unfortunately, with the popularity of iDevices, Apple could get a Windows like dominance over the market (which IMO is much worse than an MS dominated market, as Apple has absurd development guidelines).

Indeed, but you probably wouldn't be able to use a pen with it.

From what i know from my iphone, you can save files to your phone, but getting files off it is one huge headache, totally goes against the apple slogan; it just works.

Also, the ipad is a branching device that MUST be used in conjunction with a computer; which is what you were getting at; flexibility.
